Yes.
If possible, you should always use the latest x64 version, e.g. Everything-1.4.1.1016.x64 - Jan 07, 2022.giulia wrote: 2022-01-31, 15:47 UTC i have copied everything portable files like Everything.exe and Everything.lng (inside Everything-1.4.1.1015.x86.zip)

Everything must be started so that a query in TC is possible with the integration of Everything.
Is [x]'Everything' ticked in "Find Files"-window?
I recommend this entry in the wincmd.ini file in the [Configuration] section, e.g. (adjust path!):
Code: Select all
Everything=C:\Tools\Everything_1.4\Everything.exe -startup
if a search in TC is done using Everything.
Check whether you have these recommended settings:
[✓] Start Everything on system startup
[ ] Run as administrator
[✓] Everything Service
Tested with TC_clean_x86.ini.
Windows 10 Pro (x64) Version 21H2 (OS build 19044.1503)
TC 10.00 x64/x86 | 'Everything' 1.5.0.1298a (x64)
Search queries: TC <=> 'Everything' | 'Everything' 1.4.1.1016 (x64)
Switching from Everything 1.4 to 1.5, Switching from Everything 1.4 to 1.5 - parameter

no , i haven't ticked on , i have tried to enable in configuration ->operation ->everythingIs [x]'Everything' ticked in "Find Files"-window?
do you mean have I to keep always everything running in the background or only start it before using total commander?because it starts Everything in the background if Everything has not been started yet and
if a search in TC is done using Everything.
I did not know about a command like C:\Tools\ in the tc ini file , i haven't found information in help guide

Re: does everything portable work with tc 10 portable?
In Everything 1.4 do the following: Menu "Tools" - "Options..." - "General":
PS: In my signature above there are many important links, e.g. this one: Search queries: TC <=> 'Everything'...
- Tick "Start Everything on system startup" => recommended, but ...
Everything can also be started later (when searching in Total Commander), if you make this setting as indicated above in:
wincmd.ini - [Configuration] section ... now you have to specify where your Everything.exe is located ...IMPORTANT: When using a portable version, it is absolutely necessary that the "installation" is located on the system drive, e.g. C: !!!Code: Select all
Everything=Path\To\Your\Everything.exe -startup <- Adjust the path! - E.g. C:\Everything\... C:\Tools\Everything\...
-startup ... Starts Everything in the background.
Detailed explanation of parameter: Everything= in Total Commander - Untick(!) "Run as administrator"
- Tick "Everything Service"
- See this Picture as example ... (click on the image on the far left...)
- Set your desired options...

Re: does everything portable work with tc 10 portable?
Try this: (I'm sorry, I made a mistake above -> it must start with: Everything=).
Good luck!
Code: Select all
Everything=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Everything.exe -startup
Re: does everything portable work with tc 10 portable?
One more addition:tuska wrote: 2022-01-31, 17:37 UTC Try this: (I'm sorry, I made a mistake above -> it must start with: Everything=).Good luck!Code: Select all
Everything=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Everything.exe -startup
This entry is NOT required in wincmd.ini in the [Configuration] section as your Everything.exe is in the %COMMANDER_PATH% path.
The parameter: Everything= is only to be considered as an OPTION anyway.
Everything=
Thus, it is only necessary to apply points 1., 2. and 3. above in order to be able to carry out a search in TC with Everything 1.4!Help - F1: Ini file Settings - Part 1: Configuration wrote: Everything=Everything.exe -startup
Set location of Everything.exe to run when user checks "Everything" checkbox while Everything isn't running yet.
Without this option, Everything.exe will be searched in the Total Commander folder. ...
Tested with TC_clean_x86.ini.
Re: does everything portable work with tc 10 portable?
I assume that you have managed to set it up by now.
Here is a summary.
Here is a summary.
Code: Select all
Everything-1.4.1.1016.x64 --> Everything.exe in %COMMANDER_PATH%
- Double click on Everything.exe in %COMMANDER_PATH% (portable installation: System drive, e.g. C: required!)
- ◉ Install the "Everything" service, then press button "OK"
- Confirm User Account Control (UAC) query with "Yes"
- Tools -> "Options..." -> General: [✓] Everything Service ... is tick-checked now automatically
(See: Task Manager <press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC>), then click on Services tab, type ev ...
slightly below the 'Everything Service' is displayed - name: 'Everything'. The status must be "Running".) - [ ] Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything <- DO NOT check this option for a portable version!
- Proceed with the setup - choose your options -> see PICTURE
- In the course of time, %COMMANDER_PATH% may contain, for example, the following files relating to "Everything":
Bookmarks.csv
Everything.db
Everything.exe
Everything.ini
Everything.lng
Filters.csv
Run History.csv
Search History.csv - Done!
Re: does everything portable work with tc 10 portable?
I personally do not consider Everything as portable in any case as the best use is to start a service on target machine and get database populated in background for this machine only....
Anyway, what i did for some user is to add everything folder on the path and make a hard link from Everything64.exe to Everything.exe for 1.5 version.
With this, no need to modify portable TC even on usb thumb. You just launch Everything yourself using command "everything -startup" externally or from a hotkey, command or even using autorun plugin ... .
I do keep old instance with newest alpha (1.5a...) in ini. I use now 1.5 on most of the computers as it starts faster than previous 1.4 version and the gui is nicer and more flexible.
