Find Files performance

Post by *honk_ »

Hi,

I'm using Total Commander a lot to do Find Files and "Find In Files".. and often I work in folders with tons of files and folders (100000+ files). I wonder if it is possible to speed up the search? Is Find Files running in parallel? Based on how Search results are incrementally being populated it looks like it is? If it is, are there caps on number of threads or something? (I have a Threadripper PRO 3995WX with 128 logical processors and Sabrent Rocket 4 SSD)

Thanks for an awesome tool :-)

Just install the "Everything" search tool, it uses an index and the internal NTFS file system structures for very first searching. Just check "Everything" in the Total Commander search dialog and you will get a dialog box which brings you to the download page.
