TC context menu doesn't always reflect explorer. Is this a flaw?
Hi!
Recently I installed Link Shell Extension, to easily create links(Symbolic, hard, junction), which adds context menu items. And changes them during normal use.
Now, these always appear correctly in explorer but not in TC. The necessary items seem to be missing to actually create the links.
Particularly (but, I'm not sure if exclusively), it seems like they're missing when I try to use the current folder to add links.
The context menu items only appear when I click folders, but not when I click empty areas of the current folder in TC or the [..] line. Both of which bring up the same context menu that's missing the required items.
Outside the nuisance factor, this makes it quite impossible to create links in the drive root within TC. This seems to be a significant drawback within TC. And one might thing that the program in question is not working, when it does.

Re: TC context menu doesn't always reflect explorer. Is this a flaw?
No problems here!
Context menus of Link Shell Extension are displayed at TC 32- and 64-bit without problems.
Note:
1. On a 64-bit Windows you have to install the 64-bit version (which includes the 32-bit version too)
2. On a 64-bit Windows you can see the entries at the x64 submenu using 32-bit TC.
3. You have to restart TC to see the entries
On the other hand I don't use the context menu anymore.
It is much easier to drag&drop selected files/directories with right mouse button pressed to the opposite panel and select one of the "Insert as ..." entries

Is this a Windows 11 feature, because I cannot make that work in Window 10 or 7.It is much easier to drag&drop selected files/directories with right mouse button pressed to the opposite panel and select one of the "Insert as ..." entries

I think this is another feature of the Link Shell Extension which adds itself to this menu when installed.

Interesting, since that menu (when RMB-dragging) seems to be generated by TC (the dialog follows TC's language setting).Dalai wrote: 2023-02-12, 23:33 UTC 2petermad

Another thing is that I only get the menu when LMB-selection is enabled, and I prefer RMB-selection.

Re: TC context menu doesn't always reflect explorer. Is this a flaw?
I have proper TC version. The items don't appear, whether I restart it or not.sqa_wizard wrote: 2023-02-12, 16:40 UTC No problems here!

Thanks, that worksHacker wrote: 2023-02-13, 12:10 UTC petermad,

But i have to start the dragging very fast after pressing the RMB, because I have ContextProgress=0 and
PopupDelay=250 in my wincmd.ini
It doesn't have to be after releasing the RMB, it just has to be after the cursur is out of the active panel.

Good idea. And a good workaround for the TC flaw. Thanks!sqa_wizard wrote: 2023-02-12, 16:40 UTC

It's trivial if you just press RMB while already in motion.petermad wrote: 2023-02-13, 17:36 UTC But i have to start the dragging very fast after pressing the RMB, because I have ContextProgress=0 and
