Auto-rename copied and auto-rename target

Post by *nice »

Copy a single (or multiple) files with same name to folder with existing file and choose "auto-rename target".
The previously existing file will become "file (2)", and the newly copied are "file (3)", "file (4)" and "file" (in order of appearance).

Can you find out which file was the very first one?

When auto-rename copied, the copied can be multiple, but when auto-rename target, the target is always one.
I do not expect for "target" to be " (2)", probably I expect "target" to be ".bak".

Yes, "file (2)" is the very first one, because when TC encounters existing target "file" when using "auto-rename target", it looks for the first free name and renames the existing file to that name. Previously renamed files like "file (2)", "file (3)" will not be touched any more, so the oldest is "file (2)".
