Ahh, I see.

Tooltips might help with overlong texts.
(cm_100Percent, ALT+Down unfortunately does not help here).

[At the moment, you can use the "Textify" tool to extract the text (= just look at it or copy it to the clipboard).
I was able to display/extract a path with 291 characters].

If not in full screen here it adopts by enlarging the windows with the history in it.
So most of the time its shows the full lenght.

After character 106, the path has been shortened by removing a part and inserting "..." instead.

With that, I also consider your post as a suggestion and not a bug.
PS: But I don't see what this proposal is supposed to improve.

I'm currently limiting the width of the history window to half of the current screen on which Total Commander is shown. Any better ideas for an upper limit? Btw, why not use the space to show as much as possible of the paths?

Yes, but currently only in the right TC panel (26 cm).
The width of the history is smaller in my left TC panel (20,9 cm).

TC maximized: Window width 51.9 cm.
Monitor 24", Scaling size 125%, resolution 1920 x 1280 pixel (native screen resolution)

The width of the panel is determined by the longest path in the history. You can remove it with Shift+Del from the history and open it again to verify that it's smaller.

If this question is addressed to me at all - here is my answer:
I have no problem with it at all and am very happy the way it is.

The window width for my history is max. 26 cm -> "half of the current screen"
(path 291 characters - shortened to 125 characters) -
regardless of whether TC is maximised or not.

Perhaps someone else would like to say something about it.

Whatever you do, you won't be able to please everyone. As soon as you limit the menu width it's pretty certain that some people will complain "Why doesn't it use the available screen width?". I would leave it as it is. The important thing is that the menu itself doesn't reach outside of the screen (especially to the right but also at the bottom).
