So maybe just use "Synchronize directories" function?

There are profiles for the synchronize dirs function.
Click on the star button on the top left and you can store and load settings.
You can even make a button with the SYNOPEN command to load a profile.

Sorry, that is nonsense.
You never tried it.
All options are stored and retrieved.
You even get asked what parts to save if you store or overwrite a named setting.

Hi
sorry i have tried with the last official version 10.52 and total commander 11 beta 10
but at work , i have a junkie portable version , with lots of issues , I will update it too

but copy/more is different from sync , can't understand why any suggestion to make total commander better seems a bad idea , like Skip all identical files
thanks

Identical also means the same content, which requires comparison by content, these features are already included in Synchronize Dirs. Why do you want to reinvent the wheel?

I'm not sure that we are talking about reinventing something here ...
The bottom line is that for the most frequent and logical and direct action - to copy/move something somewhere - you need to keep two methods in mind: copy/move dialog AND SyncDir's tool. And in the vast majority of cases, one would be enough - this is exactly the copy/move dialog with the "Skip identical" option! Because this is where everything happens most intuitively and clearly. A synchronization tool is a completely different matter. Its use must be approached first in the head(1), and not act instinctively(2). Namely, for the second - the most common action - this request is the most relevant, IMHO! People are simply instinctively ready to initiate the process of copying/moving, but in case of collisions that arise - just as instinctively and intuitively - ways to correct them should be proposed on this form. And this is exactly the way this additional command is arising in the drop-down list, which is shown in the second screenshot. I mean - I hope it will arise here....

What is "identical" referring to? Based on which criteria should the files be considered identical: date/time, size, contents, or even a combination of these? Skipping files based on date/time is already implemented via "Overwrite all older", which in turn means that all files with the same or newer date and time are skipped.

AntonyD,
Not saying it would not be useful, but we should also consider that people might expect that "skip identical" would make the copy process faster. However, let's say one has 100 GB of files in the source folder, and exactly identical 100 GB files in the target folder. The user might expect that "Skip identical" finishes in a fraction of a second, but in reality it must read 100 GB of source files, hash them, read 100 GB of target files, also hash them, and compare the hashes, which is not really much faster than reading 100 GB at the source and writing 100 GB at the target.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Hi Roman
It will be just an another option , just option
could be added skip different size and or date or content (just synch)
it's just adding an option , you could enable or disable?
haven't found information about skip , if it does use only the name , or other date or file size
by the way , other freeware can do it very quicly
would be nice asking to Christian Ghisler
thanks

What is "identical" referring to?
As soon as we agree on the very fact of the appearance of this option, we will begin a discussion on what is the most successful criterion for this comparison to be made.

2Hacker
Of course, there may be difficulties in the perception of this option, but we must take into account the fact that despite the fact that there are already a lot of different possibilities in Total, some people write right in this forum right these days, that they were surprised to learn about "such" and "such" functionality, which is probably already 5 years old.
So worry about that when executing a "hidden" command(the command is proposed to be added to the drop-down menu, and not as an immediately visible button) suddenly a very large number of people will think that they have been deceived and they will start flooding the forum with messages and the author's mail with letters of reproach - well, it's not worth it. Plus, if there is a good explanation in the help for this new functionality, this will also simplify the matter of introducing the fact of the presence of such functionality into the masses of the consciousness of Total users.

This thread had to be moved to the suggrstion forum. It is a suggestion (or feature request) and so it had to be discussed there.

I think, it is not a necessary feature, but this is my personal view.
