Help needed from Korean users!

Post by *ghisler(Author) »

Recently a Korean user has sent me a new Korean translation of Total Commander. The user has apparently translated various other programs to Korean. The old translation has been made by multiple translators, which was causing may inconsistencies. It's also already quite old.

It would be very helpful if some Korean users of Total Commander would try the new translation. You can either post your findings here, or send them to me by e-mail to support at ghisler dot com. You can also compare the old and new language file with compare by content.

Download link

Thank you!

It's not right to entrust your translation to someone who specializes in providing software illegally.

He is a famous person in South Korea who provides all kinds of software illegally. At this moment, he is also sharing Total commander crack.

Download the wcmd_new_kor file and open the "Wcmd_kor.lng" file

"144=VenusGirl"
"145=Cracked by TC Universal Crack v1.9.0.59"

You can see evidence of crack He is a man who knows no shame

Thanks for pointing that out!
But the question still stands whether the original translation needs an overhaul. I lost contact with the translator a few years ago, and the updates were made through our Korean reseller, so there are certainly some inconsistencies.

I checked the file and he changed some of the existing words and the content is not much different from the current LNG file and I don't think it is any better than original file

And the file he provided contains some words that don't make sense in the sentence ex) 6156="고무줄 선택" (6156="select rubber band") you can see Wcmd_kor.lng file it seems to have been translated using a translation program I recommend the original file rather than the new one

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I will keep the current translation.

About the rubber band selection, this is how it is called in English too! It's when you drag some kind of rectangle over the files you want to select - it looks a bit like you are putting a rubber band around the files.

Ok I didn't know what the "rubber band selection" meant until now

In south Korea, the word "rubber band selection" is not used. The original version also uses the word "click and drag selection" So I thought he had chosen the wrong word

It's indeed better to check what's used by Microsoft or other software companies than doing a literal translation.
