Remember last 'position/size' or 'always center' child windows❔
Is there any way to make TC remember last 'position/size' or 'always center' created child windows?
Re: Remember last 'position/size' or 'always center' child windows❔
Which child windows are you referring to? By default TC saves the position of the MRT, Find Files, Directory sync, Compare by contents and several others.

Re: Remember last 'position/size' or 'always center' child windows❔
I can add these windows that are remembered: Print directory, Directory Tree, Custom Columns (Edit window), Choose plugin property, Connect to FTP server, Choose Command, Select drives, Select duplicate files,.TC saves the position of the MRT, Find Files, Directory sync, Compare by contents
For Lister and Separate quick view, the size and position is saved with the "Options" -> "Save position" menu entry. TC's main window is saved via "Configuration" -> "Save position" menu entry (or the cm_ConfigSavePos command).
All other windows except the background copy windows are centered relative to TC's main window, not to the screen.

I was referring specificly to the Copy and Move windows. They seem to appear at different places each time, and never remember their position...
Re: Remember last 'position/size' or 'always center' child windows❔
Strangely. Should always be in the center. If this is not the case, use /CENTER:3: AddDialog /CENTER:3 DIALOG_COPYMOVE
Overquoting is evil! 👎

Are you perhaps always copying in Background ( AlwaysCopyInBackground=1 in the [Configuration] section of your wincmd.ini file ) ?jesped wrote: 2023-11-09, 16:54 UTC I was referring specificly to the Copy and Move windows. The background copy dialog is placed in different places at the top of the screen, to not have muliple of these dialogs overlapping.

Yes, now I realize I am. Anyway, there should be a better way to sort those windows than totally ignoring the postion/size set by the user and appear at a random place...petermad wrote: 2023-11-10, 01:52 UTCAre you perhaps always copying in Background ( AlwaysCopyInBackground=1 in the [Configuration] section of your wincmd.ini file ) ?jesped wrote: 2023-11-09, 16:54 UTC I was referring specificly to the Copy and Move windows. No, it shouldn't. It's just as good as it is.jesped wrote: 2023-11-13, 19:53 UTC... there should be a better way to sort those windows than totally ignoring the postion/size set by the user and appear at a random place...

Ignoring user set position and showing up at a random place is the best possible thing. Ok.

The BTM doesn't save its position automatically. You can save its position via its system menu - left click on the upper left corner (on the icon) or right click on its title bar and select "Save position". Keep in mind that upon saving the position, all BTM windows will use that same position and be placed over each other.

Thanks for the tip, but I mean when using the standard 'background' windows, not the BTM:Dalai wrote: 2023-11-14, 15:01 UTC 2jesped

Well, maybe you should switch to using the BTM instead if you want to save the window position.

If you instead of pressing F5 -> Enter -> [Background], press F5 -> F2, then you will go immediately to the Background Transfer Manager, which position and size you can save by right-clicking on the Title bar icon ion the BTM window.

Re: Remember last 'position/size' or 'always center' child windows❔
I do most of my file operations using drag&drop, from inside TC and from other apps to TC.
Tried using BTM but it just wasn't the best fit for my needs. Many times I am copying or moving a long list of files and while that goes on in the background I *also* copy/move other files, which then it's done simultaneously instead of being added to the BTM "pending" list.
I don't get why the BTM has an option to save its position but the normal background transfer windows do not?
