Unpacking multi-volume rar archive , bad behavior ?

Post by *masterninja2 »

I discovered an error in the way TC handles RAR files

When unpacking RAR files, that span multi files and are named filename partx.rar to filename party.rar and clicking the option of naming the directory with the filename - TC unpacks each archive with the files of the complete remaining contens.

So the result is that you have in first dir the complete contens of the archive and in the next, the complete contens minus the files in the first archive file and the third have all the remaining minus whats in the first two archive files and so on.

So if the archive is dived into 50 files you will end up with 50 dirs and if it's many small files in the archive and the archive files is 200 megs or 400 megs all together you fill up you HDD in no time unpacking the archives.

Can it be changed ?

When unpacking a multi-volume archive, select only the first part.
