Yep - happy patching/tuning to you (do not forget to copy your "telo's" fullflash first %). BTW, have you just bought your Siemens as well (as data cable)?[/face]

Well, I guess that would be the last one (I mean real Siemens %).[/face]

As Black Dog said drivers for usb cables emulate com port, so you can use programs designed for com with usb cable freely.tosbsas wrote:I only have the usb cable too - anyone does it get working anyway??
Spooky? %)))

It looks like that model is quite popular in Riga (!for those who can't read Russian - this and most of other links leads to Russian documentation!) %). Actually CXV70 is regular CX70 in "Volcano Black" case (as for me, I prefer original CX65 design), just enter "*#06#" and hit left softkey to make sure %).
p> Can you recommend the best one?
Oh, that's endless story %). First of all do not use original Siemens software, specially for x65 series, it's a crap. Everything else depends on your purposes. There are a lot of things you should know before you became able to manipulate with this stuff, and after some of that manipulations you would definitely lost manufacturer's warranty, but anyway %).
From the beginning visit this page and download SW25 and downgrade your SW version to it (it would be necessary to make possible patching and other flash and EEPROM manipulations, though in your case I see some extra difficulties).
After changing SW version to 25th you need PapuaUtils to read your phone codes and open access to bootcore.
After that you need V_KLay flash utility to make your phone fullflash backup !sic! (and to load/remove patches later - most interesting part of story %).
And after that download last SW and update your phone with it. You can update your phone with FFSInit and MAP last version from the same page as well, but that's not so necessary in your case.
Now you can change menu styles, apply patches, edit fullflash etc., etc.
Spooky? %)))
And w/o all this manipulations you can use e.g. SiMoCo (Siemens Mobile Control) instead of MPM or DES to have access to your phone address book, send SMS, make file manipulations etc. - excellent tool.
I can also suggest you some Java midlets, first of all MicroReader, Jimm and CoolBrowser.
p> As Black Dog said drivers for usb cables emulate com port
Talking about cables, there are two types of USB cables for Siemens mobile phones - DCA 510/512 (with clones like yours) and DCA 540 (you can actually do it yourself, it's quite simple). The former is COM/USB, i.e. it connects to phone's COM interface - this one is versatile, you can use it for SW update, patches and file transfers. The latter one is USB/USB, i.e. it connects to phone's USB interface. You can use it only for files transfer.[/face]
