TC window size change after monitor resolution change

Post by *11rui »

I installed TC in window11 on a Virtual workstation (VMware Horizon) on Mac.

Most of the time, I use an external monitor with a higher resolution (2560x1440). However, sometimes I need to run the virtual machine directly on the Mac display (1728x1117). When I switch from the external monitor to the Mac display, the Total Commander (TC) window size adjusts automatically along with other windows, which works fine. The problem arises when I switch back to the external monitor. The TC window becomes enormous, taking up about two-thirds of the screen. To fix this, I have to close and reopen TC to restore the previously saved window size. Since I run two TC instances simultaneously, this close-reopen process causes one instance to lose its final directory information.

Is there a way to prevent this? or a hotkey to return back to its default size?

Other Apps, such as Notepad++, don't have this issue.

Thanks

Save the position and size in each resolution separately via menu Configuration - Save position. Total Commander will check for a saved position and size when a resolution change occurs.

If it doesn't work for some reason, restart Total Commander with a button or hotkey with the following command:
cm_exit 1

Thanks for the suggestion Ghisler!

Saving position in both resolutions does the trick! I didn't realize TC saves positions separately for different resolutions. Problem solved.

Thanks!
