How Do I Rename 50 files from *.jpg to image 1.jpg ... image 50.jpg?

Post by *totalatha »

I have 50 files, all with the ending .jpg. Is there a way to rename them like image1.jpg ... image50.jpg?
This would be extremely helpful to me, especially with all kinds of AI creations.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Select files to rename and open the Multi Rename Tool (Ctrl+M is a standard keyboard shortcut). In the "File name" field replace [N] with image[C]. On the right side set Define Counter: Start at is the first number, Step by is the step and Digits set the number of digits (1,2,3 or 01, 02, 03 ...). In the list below you'll see, what new names will look like. Then just press Start and your files will be renamed.

This text from the help is also good to know when doing this kind of rename operations:
Help wrote: The files are always numbered the same way as they are shown in the result list. You can sort the result list just like in the main Total Commander window. Additionally you can reorder individual items using drag&drop, or Shift+Cursor keys.
