malware attacks Win Defender to extract info from TC (don't panic..)

Post by *NotNull »

Some malware attacks unpatched Windows Defender SmartScreen and once through, tries to steal info from the usual places like browsers, crypto wallets and pasword managers, but interesting enough: also from Total Commander ("GHISLER") specifically. Maybe saved (FTP-) passwords?

Anyway: no direct reason for panic: targeted at unpatched Windows Servers. In Spain and US.

Yes, as the FTP connection dialog warns, it's risky to store FTP passwords unencrypted:
"Warning: Storing the password is insecure!"

Therefore I recommend the option "Use master password to protect the password".
It uses strong encryption with AES 256bit.
