How to show the DirectoryHotlist under the icon?

Post by *johnmy_126 »

Now the folder list shows a little bottom right, how to show it directly below the icon just as Xyploerer does.

Now:

No, when using parameter 1 with the command cm_DirectoryHotlist it shows the directory hotlist at cursor position (also when using the keyboard, which it shouldn't).

This option was added to TC version 9.0b1. In TC version 9.0b2 the HISTORY.TXT file was changed and did no longer mention this option was added to b1. But it seems the option still exists today as an undocumented feature.

BTW, if you use parameter 2 then you get an AV error..

Not here (Windows 7, TC 11.50b4) - I see this behavior (clean ini)
cm_DirectoryHotlist = opens in upper left corner of the active panel
cm_DirectoryHotlist 0 = opens in upper left corner of the active panel
cm_DirectoryHotlist 1 = opens at the cursor position, even if the cursor is outside TC's main window
cm_DirectoryHotlist 2 = opens under the right side hotlist button [*]
cm_DirectoryHotlist 3 = opens under the left side hotlist button [*]
cm_DirectoryHotlist 4 and above = opens under the right side hotlist button [*] - same as parameter 2.

Thanks, I found the condition. Disable the option "Show buttons for history list and hotlist" in Configuration/Options/Layout.

Tested OK using TC 11.50b6 32-bit and 64-bit. However, I think the position of the popup menu is odd. Especially considering the position when using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+D instead of using a button.

And will the feature remain undocumented?

With parameters 2 and 3 it should be at the directory hotlist button directly above the file panels. When the button is missing, it should be shown at the top right corner of the file panel instead.

Isn't using the same position as when using Ctrl+D better?

Will this question remain unanswered? ;)

It wasn't meant for the user, it's used internally when clicking on the buttons (that's why it crashed when the buttons were missing).

Okay, but now: Is it possible to add a new option to it? "cm_DirectoryHotlist 9" to show the item numbers in the list (before the menu texts) for a better/easier configuration/search handling of the list?

Your answer still isn't clear to me. Does it mean yes, no, or I haven't decided yet whether or not the parameters of cm_DirectoryHotlist will be documented.

Yes, I have already added it to the help in the meantime, I just explained why it wasn't there.

Thanks for clarifying.

In TC 9.0b1 this line was added:
15.05.16 Added: The following commands now accept a numeric parameter in the button bar or start menu: CM_WAIT CM_SELECT CM_UNSELECT CM_REVERSE CM_GOTOFIRSTENTRY CM_GOTOFIRSTFILE CM_SWITCHDRIVE CM_DELETE CM_LEFTSWITCHTOTHISCUSTOMVIEW CM_RIGHTSWITCHTOTHISCUSTOMVIEW CM_SEARCHFORINCURDIR CM_DIRECTORYHOTLIST (32/64)
But since TC 9.0b2 the line in HISTORY.TXT is:
15.05.16 Added: The following commands now accept a numeric parameter in the button bar or start menu: CM_WAIT CM_SELECT CM_UNSELECT CM_REVERSE CM_GOTOFIRSTENTRY CM_GOTOFIRSTFILE CM_LEFTSWITCHTOTHISCUSTOMVIEW CM_RIGHTSWITCHTOTHISCUSTOMVIEW (32/64)
Should CM_DIRECTORYHOTLIST be added again to this line in HISTORY.TXT?

Should I make a suggestion about it in the suggestion forum? (But I have already made a suggestion there). It would be very useful.

Should CM_DIRECTORYHOTLIST be added again to this line in HISTORY.TXT?
No, the documentation was incorrect at the time, there was no official parameter support for CM_DIRECTORYHOTLIST.

I don't see how this should work when there are subfolders.
