Can't copy from Phone
Dear All!
I hope you wil be navigate to right direction.
I am using Total Commander 11.50, and I’m experiencing an issue when connecting my Redmi Note 13 via USB. When I try to copy a folder (e.g., DCIM) or a specific file from the phone’s internal storage, nothing happens. Whether I press F5 (Copy) or F6 (Move), the operation simply doesn’t execute — nothing happens at all.
Windows 11 x64 bit.
I’ve already tried reinstalling Total Commander and resetting the settings, but the problem persists. Could you please help me resolve this issue?
I am simply close to give up and switch to another File Manager. Its very weird issue.

Re: Can't copy from Phone
Have you granted access to all files when you connect your phone? - the phone will either come up with a dialog asking for permission or you might have to change the default behaviour on the phone. Some phones only grant access to media files by default.
Can you copy the folders/files if you use Windows Explorer?

Re: Can't copy from Phone
Total copies files via copy+paste from virtual folders like your phone. So when it works in Explorer it should also work in Total Commander. It may fail when launching Total Commander with higher user rights (As Administrator), or when an Explorer context menu extension crashes.

Yes, I selected right mode of transfer. (Not USB charging or PTP/Media)petermad wrote: 2024-12-18, 22:26 UTC Have you granted access to all files when you connect your phone? - the phone will either come up with a dialog asking for permission or you might have to change the default behaviour on the phone. I have official license and I need to say that at work computer same version of TC and same phone works absolutely fine.
Via Windows Explorer everything works fine everywhere.
I tried to run as Admin and NonAdmin. Same result.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-12-19, 10:25 UTC Total copies files via copy+paste from virtual folders like your phone. Re: Can't copy from Phone
Yes, I was deleting all tracks in AppDats , ProgramData and all possible folders.
Re: Can't copy from Phone
That doesn't guarantee that you are using a fresh wincmd.ini file.Yes, I was deleting all tracks in AppDats , ProgramData and all possible folders.
You can see the location of your current ini file via the menu -> "Help" (at the far right) -> "About Total Commander" - or by entering cd %COMMANDER_INI_PATH% in TC's Command line
You don't need to delete your current wincmd.ini, you can just start TC with the parameter /i="%TEMP%\test.ini".

Do you have another account on that computer, you could test with, or try the Guest account?

Can you open the context menu for a file on the phone via long right click or Shift+F10? If yes, can you use "Copy" from that menu, and then paste the file somewhere?
If not, try using shellexview to find problem Explorer extensions:
1. Get the free tool ShellExView:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html
2. Start it. If using Total Commander 32-bit on 64-bit Windows, you need to
choose menu Options - Show 32-bit shell extensions.
3. Sort the shell extensions by type
4. Disable all context menu shell extensions one by one (you can hide/keep
those belonging to Windows, they are usually OK).
5. Continue until Total Commander manages to copy a file from your phone
6. Now you can re-enable the extensions which don't cause any problems
