My custom is to install TC in
C:\Program Files\Total Commander\
- and to install betas and RCs in
C:\Program Files\Total Commander Beta\.
When using TC itself to install/update:-
TC offers to install/update in the last folder a TC of any kind was installed in, irrespective of what kind of version is being installed.
If I install a TC beta/RC in
C:\Program Files\Total Commander Beta\,
the next installation of, say, TC RTM (the current release) from C:\Program Files\Total Commander\, is proposed by the installation/update routine to install/update in
C:\Program Files\Total Commander Beta\
- even though it knows that is operating from
C:\Program Files\Total Commander\ (it's in Help | About).
This can easily lead to an inadvertent over-writing of a current installation.
It's not critical, but it is somewhat of a nuisance - a rating of 4/10.
I believe TC should know where it came from and offer to install/update over itself.
For consideration.
(I'm presuming that others use this/a dual-folder regime.)

Re: TC Remembers Last Installed Directory When Likely Inappropriate
Sorry, I prefer to keep it as it is for now. It's easy to understand, the installer simply suggests the last directory it installed to.
There are many ways to improve this, e.g.
- offer to install to the directory of the currently running instance when launched from a running Total Commander
- offer to install based on major version number (e.g. to install each version to a different directory)
- not remember install directories on USB flash drives (e.g. because the user has a fixed installation and portable installation)
etc.
I'm therefore moving this threads to the suggestions forum for further discussion.
