If you're still in need of a free licence please reply here. I got more than one because when i first downloaded the DivX package i did'nt receive an mail with the serial either. So i reinitiated the download just to make sure. Later on (the next day) i received more than one serial. I think its ok to offer this free licence since it is not related to a person.

Well, i don't. But since it was available for free i figured it would'nt do any harm to have it in backhand. You never know when it comes in handy.
In terms of quality i think XViD is still ahead. The fact that its free and opensource adds to its value even more.

I've got an old TV card and a PC that is not too fast. So if I want to record a broadcast I need an encoder that is fast enough to compress in real time.
