[OT] Open source CD/DVD recording library

Post by *CoMiKe »

I was searching free recording software this afternoon. I wrote this post in the useful tools thread, mentioning two recording programs and one recording SDK, the StarBurn SDK.

Well, forget about StarBurn SDK. I've found an open source alternative for Delphi! Here are some links:

http://www.moby-tones.co.uk/cdburn.htm
http://www.dancemammal.com/cdburn.htm

It seems that the library is not complete yet, but here is a quote from the website:
FreeBurner Mini Site wrote:FreeBurner is a Open Source CD / DVD Burning Suite for Delphi, It is the purpose of this site to entice developers to join the project and add their expertise to the library, in the hope of producing a stable and usable set of library tools for CD and DVD burning. Most of the library has been coded, but there are many places where developers can find better ways of coding the routines.
It may be very interesting if someone wants to code a CD/DVD burning plugin for TC (I'm not asking for someone to do it, although it seems ;)), and it may be even integrated into TC, as the library is coded in Delphi.

I've found this project in this interesting page, where you can find a list of opensource, freeware and shareware recording libraries.

Hope it's useful...

Post by *dancemammal »

Hi All,
I am the creator of the FreeBurner Library you mentioned in your post, the library is open source and uses the lgpl licence, so is availible for all to use.
I am after developers to help in the continuation of this project, so anyone wishing to partake, please contact me via any of the above websites.
Cheers
Dancemammal

PS. anyone have any info on the MicroUDF ISO9660 file bridge.

If anyone here is really interested in building a burning plugin, he should use the StarBurn engine.
There's a free version for all Windows versions, which can be used for free software projects.
The people at RocketDivision will kindly remove the default nag screen, if they like the free app/plugin.

The better ones from all those small burning apps around (like DeepBurner), do use a StarBurn SDK.
