* Clean UI - remove unnecessary lines/frames, enlarge white space, new icons (Firefox is a good example of nice modern icons- less colors, more obvious) etc.

* Add graphical overview of files/folders (like VisualDirSize plugin).

* Speedup search.

It may be free to acquire, PeterMad, but working on phone versions of TC has consumed all the time Ghisler would of normally spent on TC proper.
If you look at the time-frames of TC 5/6/7/8 - now would be when a TC beta would be out to test. Yet there's nothing in the works, and most ideas in this thread are being pointed out as too time consuming or not of enough value to enough users.

Was an Android / WinPhone File Manager of enough value?

Apparantly Galnospoke with that remark meant to say that money was the most important thing to the author - it seems to be quite the opposite.

Apart from that, I share your concern that working on the Android version takes too much time from the Windows version.

I'm still spending more than 50% of my time on TC for Windows. There are just no big developments which would make a new version valuable right now.

I for one greatly appreciate the Android version of TC, and the work you do on it. You've said before (a post in the Android forum) that you work on the Android version because you like to (sort of like a hobby project) - don't let the haters get you down

Some people just won't accept that mobile is a thing - too bad for them.

(If I had a Windows phone, I daresay I would appreciate the Windows phone Beta you have created as well)

Yes I am - the list of changes in history.txt is already 71 lines long.

It's still a bit early for that.

Currently I'm adding support for the "Everything" search dlls, and it really makes a big difference. I can use it for most searches except for searches in archives. But it needs some more work before I can release a beta. Also once I publish a beta, I no longer have any spare time to add new functions...

What about network drives?

I wonder if something like Locate32 could be integrated as well in order to get instant search results also on non NTFS drives and not only based on filenames.

How should this work? You cannot access the MFT of other computers.

That's exactly my point! I agree that using Everything or another solution reading MFT might be a good solution in certain environments. In my case the Windows PC is just a working device not a storage monster. So the whole stuff is stored in the network. There are also a bunch of Linux-based NAS systems out there used at home. So I think the better way in my scenario would be to provide also a way that
1) supports all kinds of drives
2) can be used without elevation
3) can be used to search offline media (CDs, external HDDs or sticks etc.)
4) Search in archives

Locate32 seems to be a good open source base for such a search mode. It's based on a database which can be scheduled very precisely.
