TC 8.51: MRT: Selected mask is not replaced but kept?

Post by *Michael REMY »

tiny little bug in multirename tool

hi,

here a very little tiny but i saw since TC7 and still here in tc8.51 x64 :

when you open the multirename tool, there is already the maskname which is selected (which is fine, so keep it so).
then i click on a scheme button by example [YMD Date].
then the Date scheme is added in first position whereas it should replace the entire name (because there is already the full selected name at the openning).

that's all !
hope i cleary described it with my english.

i can tell it is a bug, because normaly in windows when a thing is already selected and have the focus on it, the first enter key always replace the pre-selected one.
In fact, you can reselect the entire name, and redo a button scheme, you can see that this time it works fine by replacing the whole selection name.

hope i cleary described it with my english.

have a good day
i'm an old long user of TC since the windows 3.11 release !, for the history, i came to tc when i migrate from amiga commodore to PC where they are diskmanager and directory opus there.

Not confirmed, I can't reproduce this behavior. For me name is replaced by date ...
It's impossible to lead us astray for we don't care even to choose the way.

Not confirmed here on Win7 x64 with TC 8.51a (32 and 64 bit).

Can you reproduce this with a clean wincmd.ini?

Code: Select all

totalcmd64.exe /i="%temp%\fresh.ini"

Not confirmed, TC 8.51a x64 on Windows 7 x64.

Is the [N] initially selected when you open the multi-rename tool?

yes it is.

if i enter a key (whatever) it replaces fine the whole [N]
but if i hit the button (from bottom choice) like TIME, dATE.., then it add it and get [D][N] whereas it should write [D]

i confirm my case , i always use the menu.
i tried from hotkey, and it does not append
so only from menu, you should retry it in previous version, because it is a lot of time i know it

That's indeed very odd, I can confirm it too! I will try to find out in a debugger what is going on.
