Total Commander 6.01 beta 2 available (public beta)
Dear users!
A beta version of Total Commander 6.01 is now available! This is the first time that I offer a beta version to the public, to allow all those who found a bug/problem in Total Commander 6.0 to check whether the bug/problem is gone or not. If you try the beta, I would appreciate your feedback here in the forum!
You can download it here:
sorry, the beta test is over! Please get the final version from www.ghisler.com
Please note: You need to have the 'referer' field enabled - it tells my host that you are coming from this server. This should prevent others from linking to this file. Some firewalls may block this field.
You can find the list of corrections in tc601fixes.txt.
Happy testing! Please report any bugs/problems in this thread!

I have one small problem with TOTALCMD since ~5.50 or even earlier version...
Hit "URL" type host to connect. This host must be incorrect in some way, but there must short (few seconds) period of time between clicking OK and shownig error with connection.
Now, hit ok and BEFORE TotalCMD shows error, hit cancel. Now try to connect (same way) to valid host - and here is the problem. TotalCMD will show ERROR, but if you try again, it will show connect normally. This showng error makes me angry, especiallu if I make mistakes when typing URL and then I correct these mistakes...
So I think that TotalCMD "remembers" errors and it shows it during other, valid session.

Indeed it's currently not implemented to re-count the folder contents. Maybe in a later release.

This is by design! The folder may only be temporarily unavailable, e.g. a temporary folder of some program, or a network server which is currently down. Locking means that the folder will not be changed in any case.

Thanks!

Killing a connection in progress is always problematic: The TCP/IP stack will act strangely, and report errors from the haging connection at a later time. The only solution is to close and re-open TC.

Please check this with the author of the plugin in the plugins forum. mmedia isn't an officially supported plugin yet.

Indeed TC 6.01 will not contain any new features, it's just a bugfix release.

If a tab is pointing to a non-existing folder, clicking it would cause new tabs to pop up.
How is the user supposed to know that the folder is unavailable?ghisler(Author) wrote:This is by design! Probably the most beautiful solution is that the tab is made active (receives focus), but the contents of the window would read: "Folder currently not available". Or, if this is too difficult to implement at short notice, at least display a message stating the folder is not available.
19.11.03 Fixed: Apply button not enabled in configuration-copy/delete in field "drives on same disk"
Ralated thread: TC60/Config/Options/"Copy/Delete": Small bug Appy
Problem solved.
However new problem found.
The tab key does not work like supposed to in the Configuration dialogs.
I have done some testing and here are the results.
The radio buttons all have the same problem. To fix it in Delphi set TabStop to false for all radio buttons (that's also the default value).
Layout
Display
radio buttons!
Font
Color
"Cursor font" has no tab stop
tab order not correct "Others" moved up, but tab order is not adjusted
it is not visible when checkbox before "Define colors by file type" has focus (add text: "Enable color by file type")
Tabstops
radio buttons!
Folder Tabs
Language
Operation
radio buttons!
"Panels (brief full etc.)" has no tab stop
Edit/View
radio buttons!
Copy/Delete
radio buttons!
"Use copy+paste cia Explorer" has no tab stop
FTP
Packer
tab order not correct "TAR" moved up, but tab order is not adjusted
Zip packer
radio buttons!
tab order in "Additional Settings" should be from top to bottom and then form left to right (that is the way it usually is)

Download did not work for me, though I see others have it. Has it been withdrawn? Part of error message:
