In one of past versions of TC I could go to the folder and name one of the images that could be found in that folder like this: folder.jpg and that image would be there like a thumbnail of that folder. Now in this newest version 7.55 I tried the same thing and it doesn't work. I dont think that authors have deleted this option because it was great, and I just need help to enable it. Please help me. When I go to thumbnail mode, my folders look like this photo that I uploaded to be my avatar, and i would like if that could look like image that i named folder.jpg.
Please answer, I really need this badly. Thanks a lot. Help from author of TC could be very useful,too. THANK YOU!
Try adding
WmfAllowed=3
to your wincmd.ini section [Configuration].
First of all, let me ask you if I was going to the right side...
I have turned on TotalCommander and than gone to Configuration meni and than to Change Settings Files Directly, and than i have got a notepad document which starts with this:
[Configuration]
InstallDir=c:\totalcmd
firstmnu=3192
Aligned extension=1
Is that right? Am I on the right way?
If I was wrong please tell me more about where I can find all that and where I should add WmfAllowed=3
Thanks
The wincmd.ini file is the right file.
The first section in this file is titled [Configuration].
As Christian already stated, this is the right section to add the entry WmfAllowed=3.
It does not matter where in this section you put the entry. Only do not put it into another section. And make sure that there are not multiple entries for WmfAllowed=<value>.

Nothing happened...I have added WmfAllowed=3 in that section and nothing happened, even it slower shows thumbnails of photos. Really dont know what to do...it is still the same, same litle icon of folder like my avatar image shows. Please help me more. And yes, there are no more WmfAllowed entries, i have searched for them and surely there are no more. Thx
Not quite sure whether it will help. Yet, very often it is required to stop and restart Total Commander after having edited wincmd.ini manually.
Maybe your issue is unrelated to WmfAllowed? This parameter is totally absent from my wincmd.ini.
Nevertheless, it works for me:
+ I switch to Thumbnail View in Total Commander
+ In a random folder a JPG file is renamed to folder.jpg
+ I go to the parent folder of that folder
+ T.C. displays folder.jpg as the thumbnail for that folder
Total Commander 7.55a
Windows Vista Home Premium, 32-bit
Thx anyway...nothing worked, nothing changed doesnt mater, what should I do, it isnt possible. Thx men, I am using XP, maybe something is different in it. doesnt mater, i will let it be like it is. Thx a lot. cya
Try to run TC with fresh ini and see if this solve the problem, copy the following text and go to the empty part of your TC button bar, right click, paste and run TC by clicking on the created button.
If you can see the thumbs OK when you start TC with fresh ini then you must have some conflicted thumb settings in your Wincmd.ini. Try to play with these settings to see which one cause the problem.

I really dont uderstand what did you mean...what is fresh ini? Where to add that code? if you have time this is my msn...shoomyrovich@hotmail.com...just type in that requesting message that you are contacting me for TC help. I really dont understand what to do...sorry and thx in advance
Fresh ini means an empty TC configuration file.
Starting TC with fresh ini, make TC uses its default settings and don't use any plugin of any kind.
Usually I do this when I see TC behave strange in order to know if that strange behavior caused by TC itself or by any plugin or settings I have changed recently.
BTW: to start TC with empty ini file without creating new toolbar button, do the following:
1- copy the following line
I have done that...opened TC with fresh ini...nothing happened...thumbnail icons still the same...what to try next? thx guy for assistance it means so much to me.
I have done that, opened a new tab, fresh ini and added that WmfAllowed=3 into Configurations section and now it works...it is ok now but only in that new commander that i opened from new tab, when i start commander from desktop icon and it starts normal TC it is the same, it doesnt work, if you understand what i said...how to fix that?
