find/replace: is it like notepad++ (1 dialog window - 2 tabs for find and replace) or 2 separate dialog windows?

Maybe tabbed version from Notepad is better than 2 windows

why? i saw N++ window. Its ugly. some opt are not underst-ble.

With tabbed version all options for find/replace are concentrated in 1 window. Only 1 shortcut key is needed.
Currently I use Ctrl+F for Quicksearch and Ctrl+R for find/replace.
Now I need 3 different shortcut keys to reach all find / replace functions.

But it's only a small problem for me. I use the main find dialog very rarely. In most cases I use Quicksearch only. So I can stay with my current Shortcuts Ctrl+F (Quicksearch) / Ctrl+R (Replace)

but N++: also has Ctrl-F (find) ctrl-H (replace). Ctrl-F, Ctrl-tab isnot usable(Imho).

You're right. I didn't noticed shortcut Ctrl+H in N++. I only saw window by pressing Ctrl+F with all find and replace options.
I also had a look into Ultraedit and Editplus. It seems that most editors have separate windows for search and replace. So I think it is good to do it also in SynWrite.

Yes i see that and it is good to have a bigger height. Also textfields can have more than 1 line. N++ and Editplus only have 1 line. Ultraedit has 3 lines with scrollbar. See here: http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/3278/jpeg0001.jpg

I don't know if i understand your question. If i do a search for a string then found string appears always in the middle height in n++ and ultraedit. If new search string is at the same page then search mark only jumps to new search string but lines are not moved.

Editplus: if you search forward then after line with string are 3 more lines to the end of screen. if you search backwards then there are 3 more lines to beginning of screen.
