[TC 8.01 RC3 x32] Unwanted text selection in Search-dialog

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC 8.01 RC3 x32] Unwanted text selection in Search-dialog

Post by *MaxX »

How to reproduce:
1. Start TC
2. Press Alt+F7 to open "Search" dialog
3.a. (if maximized) Restore window to normal size
3.b. (if not maximized) Maximize the window
4. You can see, that first field (files mask) is still active, but the second field's text (search place) is now shown as selected (we did NOT select it)

TC 8.01 RC3 x32 @ Win 7 x64.

But, TC 8.01 RC3 x64 works fine.

I confirm.

Moreover, after maximizing/restoring the window, I also get "Find text" contents selected - but the control is disabled! I've never seen such a funny effect...

This is a known problem which cannot be fixed, sorry. The selection seems to be done by Windows, not TC.

But, there was no such bug before. So, it can be fixed. Or not?

Not quite true - for example in TC version 6.58 (both 16bit and 32 bit) and 7.57a the same thing happens...

It has been discussed before, but I don't remember if it was here in the public forum, or in the private beta test forum.

Same effect is in Multi-Rename Tool. Comboboxes are being selected by Windows, when they get focus.

In our case, when resizing, all comboboxes execute WM_SETFOCUS message. It's strange - when one of them gets focus, previous should get (and execute) WM_KILLFOCUS message.

Maybe this is an unintentional effect of some special processing in TMyComboBox.

Sorry, I have no idea where it comes from. I get this with all older versions I tried too.
But, there was no such bug before.
Which version?

Maybe you could - for test purposes - replace TMyComboBox with standard TComboBox and check if this effect appears too?

Can't remember clearly, but I've just tested 7.57a... and 7.57a does NOT have such bug.

Yes it does - just testet again under both Win XP and Win 7 - see: http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/searchbug.png - have also testet with a clean ini file and with Classic theme - the bug is persistent.

Tested using Windows XP 32-bit.
It seems like it only happens when searching a folder that was searched in before. When I delete search in-history, it does not occur.

It's a problem with comboboxes. Sorry, I don't have any solution.
