-8.5ß3: Unexpected reaction when folder tabs are deactivated
In my Commander the configuration option "Show folder tabs" is deactivated.
In this case, the hot key ctrl+T starts the Multi-Rename-Tool, which is supposed to start by use of ctrl+M.

Ctrl+T was the hotkey for the multi-rename tool before TC had tabs. It was changed to Ctrl+M to make TC compatible with other tools using tabs, like most Web browsers which use Ctrl+T for tabs.
For backward compatibilty, Ctrl+T again opens the multi-rename tool when the user disables tabs.

OK, then what about placing a new option to choose in the configuration window?
If tabs are disabled you can choose whether to have backward compatibility or not.
It is indeed strange to have two different hotkeys for one function under two different circumstances.

You can redefine hotkey Ctrl+M manually so it will open MRT in any cases. But I doubt that someone still uses Ctrl+T for MRT... Again, (s)he can redefine Ctrl+T.

It sounds logically, since checkbox enables/disables tabs and not just shows/hides them. And other options on Folder Tabs page must be disabled when checkbox is unchecked to make it more evident that it switches tabs off (and won't save their state anymore).Wouldn't it make sense to change the position of "Show folder tabs" from "Layout" to "Folder Tabs"?

Christian,
Well, you could simply add Ctrl-M as a shortcut to start the MRT regardless of the "Show folder tabs" setting. Should not break anything and everyone would be happy and no unexpected behavior.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
