CTRL-F12 does not work on new computer
I have been using Total Commander for many years, and I have never had any problem. I have recently installed it on a new laptop, and the Ctrl-F12 key combination for custom file selection does not work. I can still choose the Custom functionality under Show, and then it works perfectly. I have checked the Ctrl and F12 keys in other applications, and they seem to work as they should (the keyboard hardware seems OK). As a workaround, is it possible to define another key combination to the Show custom functionality ? Thank you.
Re: CTRL-F12 does not work on new computer
It's a known issue that some programs register various hotkeys system-wide, Alt+F7 among them. Notoriously known for this are GeForce Experience and the Intel iGPU driver/software package, and I guess that AMD's GPU driver package also does this.
Check running software, including the driver software I mentioned, if any of them has this hotkey registered. There are programs which are able to show system-wide registered hotkeys, but they work rather poorly. NirSoft HotKeysList is able to show the registered hotkeys, but it doesn't show the program that registered it.

You have definitely some tool running which assigns globaly Ctrl-F12.

As already said, often Graphic card application (or other programs in some cases) have shortcuts set the user is not aware of.

Also on some laptops, one has to enable the F-keys in the BIOS setup. - otherwise they act as multimedia keys

Re: CTRL-F12 does not work on new computer
Many thanks for this suggestion, I really appreciate this. Could you elaborate a little bit more on this ?Horst.Epp wrote: 2022-10-14, 18:14 UTC You have definitely some tool running which assigns globaly Ctrl-F12.

What do you mean "configuration under Misc" ? I don't seem to find it...
Thanks !

Re: CTRL-F12 does not work on new computer
Thank you very much ! I have installed the HotKeysList utility, and it indeed finds a large number of hot keys currently in use. But it seems that CTRL--F12 is not in this list. So the reason for why CTRL-F12 does not work is either something else, or maybe HotKeysList does not detect that CTRL-F12 is used (reserved), maybe by the BIOS (??). In any case, whatever the reason, I guess one workaround would be if I could define another hotkey combination to this functionality (which is one that I very often need). Re: CTRL-F12 does not work on new computer
Thank you so much, it works perfectly !! Maybe good to mention for those doing this for the first time (like myself) is that it is important to click on the little green tick mark beside the magnifying class (in the Misc menu window) after choosing the command, otherwise it seems that the actual hotkey assignment is not performed.Horst.Epp wrote: 2022-10-14, 18:14 UTC You have definitely some tool running which assigns globaly Ctrl-F12.
