2038 year problem.

Post by *MaxX »

Is TC affected to "2038-year problem"?
There's not so much time left. It would be nice to know about that now.

There are 13 years left, before this will be a problem.
I don't see the urgency of this question :)

I don't think this will be a problem. See also What to do after year 2559?.

The year 2038 problem is only relevant for Unix Timestamps; 32-bit Epoch timestamps will overflow in that year. I don't think TC relies on them too much. Plugins are a different story, but I'm quite certain we will have even more 64-bit software by then.

The FTP client could be affected if the server is running a Unix style system like Linux.
Some archive formats also use Unix time stamps, e.g. TAR and GZ.
