[TC 11.50b1 32bit]cursor blinking

Post by *yahuu »

In the 32-bit version , the cursor keeps blinking when it is over certain folders, while the 64-bit version does not have this issue.
In the same environment, version 11.03 does not have this issue.

Not confirmed.
Since you are using Windows 10 Professional, can you enable Windows Sandbox and try it in there?

I tested with Sandboxie, and it also blinking.

Not confirmed. Do you use any internal associations?

I assume he used a clean installation when testing with Sandboxie. That was the plan anyhow.

I unzipped tcmd1103x32_64.exe and tc1150x32_64_b1.exe, unzipped INSTALL.CAB and opened it directly without modifying any configuration.

Before I update to a new version, in order to avoid affecting the existing version, I always first use the extracted method to open the latest version and check the update features. Only after that do I overwrite and update the version I am using.

So after discovering the blinking issue in version 11.5, I extracted version 11.03 for comparison, and version 11.03 is normal.

Configuration>>Display>>Icons
Check: Show icons for special folders: Normal file system
uncheck:Show default folder/file icons from Explorer

Change folder attributes:include R or S.
Do not set a custom icon for the folder.

If all the above conditions are met, it will definitely blinking.
Folders with manually set icons or those with automatically set icons like OneDrive will not blinking.
Moreover, the blinking frequency of R and S is different.

Then it will use the same wincmd.ini file for all TC programs (as defined in the Windows registry). A convenient way to prevent this is by creating a wincmd.ini file in the program folder with the following contents:

Code: Select all

[Configuration]
UseIniInProgramDir=7

Confirmed. To reproduce with a clean wincmd.ini file, uncheck the "Show default folder/file icons from Explorer" option.
The problem is caused by the "Show icons for special folders: Normal file system" option.

That did the trick for me, thanks! It's caused by the new function to set custom folder icons via internal associations. I will fix it.

Yes, I forgot this detail.
But fortunately, the conditions for inevitable occurrence have been found.

Confirmed on $recycle.bin and System Volume Information on any NTFS volume. The cursor is blinking at extremely fast rate and TC uses 40..50% CPU.

Everything becomes normal when either
1) Show default folder/file icons from Explorer ON regardless of other checkboxes
or
2) Show default folder/file icons from Explorer OFF AND Show icons for special folders: Normal file system OFF.

If Show default folder/file icons from Explorer is OFF, but Show icons for special folders: Normal file system ON, the cursor blinks.

Windows 10 x64, TC 11.50β1 x32.
