I cannot reproduce that. Here I only get the jump from "visible at the bottom" to "extra x lines higher".In other words, it's about having to scroll up first to extra lines-1 from the very bottom and then again 1 more line up, instead of scrolling up extra lines directly in one step.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
Oh, I see - I was suspecting that, just wasn't 100% sure about it. That's strange and unfortunate, since me, petermad, reenstix and white already reproduced it, while you and JOUBE weren't able to do that (yet). Not sure what more can we do other than reporting and providing proof for it, the rest is obviously not under our control. From my part, thank you very much for your interest in it so far, and let me know if I can do anything else to try to debug this further.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-08-01, 16:31 UTCI cannot reproduce that. Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
I am also happy to do more tests, but I need to know exactly what is needed. We already know that the problem occurs on any version of Windows, but only when using x64 version of the TC. I can personally confirm this behaviour on Windows 7, Windows 10 and Windows Server 2019. My main computer is Ryzen 7 5700x + RTX 4080, but i can also confirm this behaviour on Ryzen 7 2700x + Vega 64 and Pentium J5040 + Intel UHD 605.
On a test VM with Windows 11 this problem also occurred. During the first test it seemed to be ok, but now the skip is occurring all the time (everything at default settings).

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
I had noticed that hiding the drive combo may not always be enough to reproduce the issue. One might also need to hide the drive button bar, which Mr. Ghisler did not do when he recorded his video. That's how I came up with the idea that it is perhaps related to panel size and reproduced the issue my simply resizing TC's window (see this post).

As I wrote:That's how I came up with the idea that it is perhaps related to panel size
And as you can see in my video examples I reproduce it with the Drive Combo box visible (with all GUI elements visible as a matter of fact).petermad wrote: 2024-07-24, 12:03 UTC Tested with TC window height set so the last line in the file panel is in full view.
Maybe for some people, disabeling the Drive Combo box resizes TC's file panel to a size where the last line is not fully visible. I can NOT reproduce the problem, if the last line only shows the upper part of the file name.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
FYI: I use the 32bit version by default, drive bar is on and drive list is off. That's why I'm out of here...

Unfortunately I could not fix this problem because I could not reproduce it, sorry.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
That's indeed unfortunate.
Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
I have not yet encountered a computer on which I could not reproduce this error, and I have access to a lot of equipment. In addition, it appears that even with the "Extra lines below cursor" option turned off it happens. It does not occur every time, but only from time to time.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-10-09, 14:14 UTC Unfortunately I could not fix this problem because I could not reproduce it, sorry.

Sorry, your video makes no sense at all. Why would it add 4 lines bottom margin when you turned it off? This just never happens here.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
At the end of the video I enlarged the image and made a loop of the situation to make it more visible. Of course there was only one jump. I apologise for misleading you. Nevertheless, I recorded this test on a virtual machine with a clean system installation and default TC settings. I can do more tests, but I need to know exactly what else I can check.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-10-17, 08:35 UTC Sorry, your video makes no sense at all. I think I found something, but only when "Extra lines below cursor" is checked. I still can't reproduce it when it is unchecked, sorry.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
Well, what I reported / referred to was in fact while "Extra lines below cursor" was checked. But like I said earlier, it's about the jump from (Extra lines below cursor - 1) to (Extra lines below cursor), e.g. if Extra lines below cursor = 4, then when using double click to return from inside a folder towards the bottom of a long list to its parent, TC will briefly display that folder with only 3 lines below cursor and only afterwards settling on 4 lines below cursor...ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-10-17, 13:31 UTC I think I found something, but only when "Extra lines below cursor" is checked.
EDIT: Incorrectly mentioned the ENTER key as a way to return. Corrected that part to double click, as in the OP.

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
I have just realised that I may have also misled you with the way I reproduced this error. After exiting a folder by double-clicking the mouse, I used the mouse wheel to move to another folder which could also suggest a jump, sorry about that.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2024-10-17, 13:31 UTC I think I found something, but only when "Extra lines below cursor" is checked. I was also able to reproduce this behaviour with the "Extra lines below cursor" option turned off and using only the keyboard, only it happens much less often than with this option enabled.
If you have managed to find something then maybe this is what we are looking for?

Re: File list scrolling additional lines when the drive combo box is hidden
Could you try this in beta 3, please? I only tried to address the problem when "Extra lines below cursor" is checked.
