Re: Imagine (Lister plugin for viewing img files) v. 1.7.1 (Dec 7 2024)
I have also tried with various types of .png files: transparent background, alpha channel background, animated, regular - I have no encountered any craches.

Re: Imagine (Lister plugin for viewing img files) v. 1.7.1 (Dec 7 2024)
The PNG above from mihal_ms makes TC 32bit, windows 10, and imagine 1.7.1 crash (I have dump files).
It is an animated PNG so I renamed it to file.apng - Imagine 1.6.0 didn't crash but showed an empty page for the PNG and a non animated clock after renaming it to APNG. Imagine has had issues with animated PNGs in the past so not that surprised to see it "return".
For my earlier crashes:
TC 32 bit, 11.50rc1 (at the time), v1.7.1, Windows 11.
The PNGs were/are screenshots (with private info so can't share) - but it is/wasn't specific for an image. I use Quickview to browse through some screenshots, and TC freezes and crashes. I start TC again, I immediately open the image it froze on with F3 or Quickview -> freeze, crash. So once it crashed on an image it always crashes on that image. BUT when I reboot the computer, that same file might be easily viewable but another screenshot crashed it (one that was OK before the first crash). So I don't think it is something specific to a PNG file. And it is standard Windows 11 PNG screenshot so nothing "weird" about it I suspect.
It may very well be that it is my antivirus - although TC is whitelisted, I don't know how it handles loading of DLLs for lister, it may be that my AV detects something and tries to scan/prevent it launching. But I don't see any notifications in my AV logs. I will wait until the final 11.50 version and then try v1.7.1 again to see if has resolved itself.

This apng kills imagine process. Configm.
But I have another sample https://0x0.st/XFMq.png and this one works fine.

Confirmed that png from https://www.upload.ee/files/17508619/png-anim-_______imagin.zip.html crashes Imagine 1.7.1, but it also crashes Imagine 1.7.0.
I also have some .mng files ( example: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/dwsample-mng-640.mng ) that Imagine 1.7.0 could open, but in Imagine 1.7.1 i get the message "not enough memory".

Re: Imagine - Image/Animation Lister Plugin for Total Commander
It would be cool (and probably somewhat easily implementable) if one could have his default file format for saving files. In my example I usually "F3-open" JPEG files, which I do some editing (crop:ing) on, and then want to save lossless (e.g. to PNG). Here, Imagine always defaults to JPEG so I have to change it to PNG which is of course a privileged "first world" problem, but still..
--EDIT--
Sigh, I just realized that this thread (found by Google) is indeed obsolete, and that there's a fresh Imagine plugin thread. Yeah well, can't undo my post. If it's possible some admin/moderator could perhaps move this post to the recent Imagine thread? Sorry for the trouble. Cheers!

Re: Imagine (Lister plugin for viewing img files) v. 1.7.1 (Dec 7 2024)
Today we got 1.7.2 release.
The 32-bit wdx bug seems to be fixed now.
The APNG bug also seems to be gone - that sample with a clock is being shown properly.

Update: My problem with (random) PNGs freezing & crashing TC 32bit still exists with v1.7.2

In general, Imagine crashes on many files. Here's another one:

That MultipleFormats.tif has been reported before: viewtopic.php?p=441892#p441892 - no wievers seem to be able to show it - it is more interesting whether the latest versions of Imagine (1.7.1 and 1.7.2) causes more crashes with more commen formats like .png that it did before.

Re: Imagine (Lister plugin for viewing img files) v. 1.7.2 (Dec 22 2024)
It's clear. I don’t follow the topic and practically don’t use Imagine. I checked the test png. I started to show up normally too
Re: Imagine (Lister plugin for viewing img files) v. 1.7.2 (Dec 22 2024)
2MaxX I'm fairly certain it is not specific PNGs as it is random which one will cause it to crash, mostly screenshots, but also saved PNGs from an email for example - and after reboot those images work fine until it crashes on another PNG. v1.7.0 works perfectly fine, 1.7.1 & 1.7.2 crash TC. It may resolve itself. (Note to self: check "Windows Event Viewer" to see if there is a report, I keep forgetting to do that).

Looks like video memory leak.
I remember the same problems in some PC games. They also get fixed after reboot.
