Exactly!

SanskritFritz wrote:My remark was only concerning the statement, that a file operation is needed for remembering the selection for the "/" restoration. Looks like it is not true.
Yes it's not true and that is because I was meant to say, "execute an action (i.e. a TC internal command)" other than a "file operation". Sorry, my mistake!

But anyway, with the new version of TC you would probably be able to make your wish come true. Either directly (based on the way the new save/restore selection system will work) or at least with two keyboard shortcuts.

Code: Select all

26.10.04 Added: When switching from/to branch view with Ctrl+B, keep the cursor on the file currently under the cursor
Thank you Christian! Such a long awaited feature!

Dont know if I got it right, but if you press again [Ctrl]+ you are in the folder of the file where the cursor is upon. But not selected of course.

Yes, this is correct, it was requested by many users.

Absolutely! I feel like in Heaven :-)
Umm, by the way, in zip files, branch view does not work the expected way: when pressing ctrl-b in a folder in a zip file, not only the files under the folder are shown, but all files contained by the zip file. Then pressign ctrl-b again, the cursor does not remain on the selected file, but in the folder containing the file. Better than before ;-)

To repeat a very good question:
SanskritFritz wrote:If I select a file after I pressed Ctrl B, how can I return to normal display with the file still selected? In other words, how can I "go to" the file under the cursor?
Is there a simple answer to this? It's a question-feature-request i had too.

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

Aaahhhhh..... :)

Thanx, i had missed that..... That's a new in TC 6.50... A nice one, although i would prefer it to work like it used to, and have a different keystroke to lead you to the selected file (like ctrl+right arrow, or ctrl+pgdn perhaps...). There are cases i just browse through the list and i wish to return to the dir i was with CTRL+B, not 7 levels below :)

This is what Ctrl-Left/Right is for.

Sort-of...

Example

Left: C:\
Right D:\MyPath

I press CTRL+B in the right panel, then if press...

Ctrl-Left: It sets D:\MyPath in left panel
Ctrl-Right: It sets C:\ in right panel

What i wanted is to return to D:\MyPath in the right panel, nomatter what file i've selected (like it worked in pre-6.50 versions). The way it is now, i have to go to the top of the list (by pressing Home) and then press Ctrl-B... IMHO, it would be simpler if you should press something else (i.e. CTRL+PgDn) to go to the selected file otherwise if you pressed CTRL+B, it would return you to the path in which you were before pressing CTRL+B. Anyway, IMHO, its another questionable change in TC's behavior (like the change i mention in http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=6011&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0).
wanderer wrote:Perhaps Christian shouldn't alter all these default settings. Perhaps the default behavior should be in 6.50 as it was in 6.03 and another keystroke should lead to GoToLockedDir (i.e. CTRL+SHIFT+\). Anyway, IMO the whole thing has become a little complicated now but at least it's better than before.

Hmm, perhaps TC has become too complicated after all? ;)

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
