Is file WCMD_ENG.MNU used by Total Commander?
I am trying to edit Total Commander's Main menu using Main Menu Editor from Ultra TC Editor.
I'm editing file WCMD_ENG.MNU located in LANGUAGE directory. It doesn't seem to have any effect. TC menu stays the same even though I added and deleted some items from WCMD_ENG.MNU... The added items are not showing up and deleted items are still present in Total Commander's menu. What could be the problem?

Hello !
¤ Indeed, the Raymond's tip works !
- The default English menu and language files are embedded into the EXE; so, some users complained that they couln't customize it.
- I suppose that the Author decided to release a separated English menu now, easier to customize than to write a whole new English menu …
Kind regards,
Claude

Hi Claude,
BTW do you know any link to the new WCMD_eng.lng.
Because it is the most comfortable way to rename an *.lng file the same name as your *.mnu -e.g. WCMD_Stefan.mnu + WCMD_Stefan.lng thus each tme you select Wcmd_stefan.lng your custom menu is selected too. Very handy if you use more than one menu at once. And if you alter the very first line of the *.lng file you can make TC display a meaningful name in the dialog e.g:
Stefans english (Wcmd_eng_stefan.lng)
sheepdog

Unfortunately, this is NOT original English LNG file. There are several non-matching lines in it. Look for example, line 5346. In this LNG it contains "Wid&th * Height :", but in TC with default English language it is "&Thumbnail size:" (See Configuration -> Thumbnails page).

You're right, I didn't notice that. Maybe it's from certain beta version so didn't follow the final update.Flint wrote:Raymond

Anyway, we can change the UI words to anything we like with it by ourself. It is the reason we need this file, isn't it?
Menu, yes - LNG not yet---

Hello Stefan !
WCMD_eng.lng is distributed to the translators only currently, as a template in order to verify the languages translations…
- Ch. Ghisler is not opposed to the diffusion of that file, I guess, like he told a while ago.
- You may get it from this page >> m-extra.zip
- Indeed, like Paul Vansumsen pointed out recently, you must keep the original WCMD_eng_custom-string.lng order in the name, or else this causes problems with the LNGs files of the plugins…

Trick from tests
2Raymond
Hi Raymond !
¤ The line 5346="Wid&th * Height" is a very good trick that Petermad-friend proposed in the tests, you are right.
* So, I adopted it in French, and changed in my own English template too. But I guess that the Author didn't change this in the embedded default file
“Thumbnail size” is ambiguous, because if one wishes rectangular pictures, one doesn't know which field is for what (width or height?)

Thanks for the good comments! (although Sheepdog is fully aware of my work and he is also a beta tester)Raymond wrote:Hi, Sheepdog
Check here. You can find the newest wcmd_eng.lng in TCExtMenu.zip, together with some other good stuff.

Now, sorry if that file has caused some confusion here but there is no alteration whatsoever to the one
provided to us by the author shortly after the completion of v6.50.
