Wow! Great job (again)! I had already adopted the previous version of your buttons. I like them!

They give an otherwise very Win 3.1 looking application a beautiful 32 bit look. Besides, the icons are very useful as they are pretty self explanatory.

Sergio

Just put the following line in the [Configuration] section in your wincmd.ini file:

Code: Select all

DriveLib=c:\totalcmd\Icons\vicons_2_10_drivelib.dll
replacing the path, if necessary, with the appropriate one.

Hope this helps

Thanx that works fine :lol:

Until now i have:

Code: Select all

[Configuration]
IconLib=%COMMANDER_PATH%\[your path to icons]\vicons_2_10_fileicons.icl
DriveLib=%COMMANDER_PATH%\[your path to icons]\vicons_2_10_drivelib.dll
(maybe you can add this 'code' in your readme file for the newbies :P :lol: )

What about the vicons2_10_buttonbar.icl ?
Do we need to change icon manually by right-clic > change ? (I think so)
Thanx :)

By the way if i choose CONFIGURATION > LAYOUT > SHOW DRIVE BUTTON > FLAT ICON or not FLAT ICON I have the same result.... 3D buttons, not flat. This is not linked with the new icons, and it is under XP sp2 with version 6.51.

I'm affraid you have to do that exactly, but it's faster if you enter the ToolBar config dialog and then change the icons one after the other, by copying the path to the ICL lib from the 1st button and then pasting it on the Icon field for each button and manually selecting the desired internal icon.
A "flat" display means that the buttons (not their icons) are flat, and thus they appear to be leveled with the canvas in which they are contained, UNTIL you hover your mouse over them, when they "rise" and can thus be "pushed". This is opposed to a 3D button display, in which all buttons appear as raised by default. This behaviour has nothing to do with the icons used and can even be seen in icon-less buttons.

Hope this helps.

Sergio

Sorry, this is not a question but a statement... I can not have flat icons... is this only my problem or does it happen to some other users ? :cry:

Win 98=OK Xp=Not OK

Post by *Clo »

:) Hello ! Bonsoir,
¤ This works perfectly under Win 98 SE which has a "classic" Windows button-design.
Sorry, this is not a question but a statement... I can not have flat icons...
- You are right ! Under XP-Pro, it seems that the XP-style features predominate the TC-settings…
- So, I get a similar look which is in the mean of "3D" and "Flat" with both options, icons with "XP" curved corners …
¤ I use the same «MG_DriveBmp.dll» for these buttons under XP and under Win 98 SE.

OK, I added a description to my initial post. I'll update the readme when I add the next few icons (which are slowly on their way...)

Hello,
I can confirm this behaviour under XP. I guess that an option is missing for that OS (only), maybe to disable the <Totalcmd.exe.manifest> embedded in the program; this file could causes this priority of XP-display ( just a thought…)
- In XnView, a partial disabling exists for the style of the menus…

Drives-buttons only !

Post by *Clo »

2Villampiro
:) Hi again !
¤ Like I explained above, in my XP it's “neither fish nor fowl”… It seems that is the same @ Paul's… Maybe it depends a bit on the Bitmap-DLL you use (whether you are using such a customized DLL).
In my Win XP it behaves as expected: I do have the flat interface.
- We are talking of the drive-buttons only here ! The rest of the interface has another option to change its look…

Ok, I got it finally... :wink:

You are right on this. My drive bar shows Windows skinned buttons, not flat at all.

It is interesting that these buttons (drives) require a DLL to be iconized instead of a mere ICL library. Is it for the need of some code or the like?

My apologies for the confusion, but I was at work when I first read the thread and there I have Win 2K and TC looked perfectly flat.

BMP only---

Post by *Clo »

2Villampiro
- You are quite forgiven 8)
- The drives buttons need bitmaps, so simple *.BPMs, not icons *.ICO; I suppose it's because the programming language(s) demand(s) such pictures, first for the default ones which are embedded in the EXE. It seems that bitmaps only are supported, following that I see with my son's works at this…
- Finally, I think that Paul Vansumsen could be right, the <….EXE.MANIFEST> script could cancel out the TC-settings, forcing the current XP-theme look… Information from the Author should be welcome :D
