Apparently it depends on the XP style you use. I made a screenshot:

The upper half is on XP with "Windows Classic design" while the lower half is with "Windows XP design". As you can see with classic you have different looks for both drives and buttonbar while with XP the drives look the same.

So it's not a bug - in my Opinion.

A lacuna---

:) Hello Stefan !
So it's not a bug - in my Opinion.
- We didn't say it's a bug, but at least a lacuna somewhere, since the “look-commands” are getting inefficient with a XP-theme.
- Besides, this is not documented…

Whoa.. thanks for this great iconpack !

One thing bothering me tho...
Why do system folders have different icons?
example:
Image: http://img219.exs.cx/img219/3726/tcmd4ix.gif

Its not just a problem in your ICL, I experienced this in every ICL i think.

wow, I'm happily surprised so many of you like my icons! Thanx a lot for all your nice comments! I'm slowly extending and polishing my collection, I think I can release version 1.1 soon...

Why do system folders have different icons?
AFAIK these are icons are set systemwide so I think there's no 'display in TC only-option'. These icons can be changed in Windows, too (with Microangelo or some other system icon tweaker), but then every App using the Standard win-Icons would show the TC-style-Icons...

I didn't mess with this issue yet, so I'm not really sure if my assumption is correct...

OK, I added a description to my initial post. I'll update the readme when I add the next few icons (which are slowly on their way...)
great :wink:
if i may bother...... :lol:
open your WINCMD.INI (usually in TCs folder or the windows folder, 'help' -> 'about' shows where it is actually)
isn't the use of CONFIGURATION > CHANGE SETTINGS FILES DIRECTLY much quicker :P
1. to get the Drive Icons, insert the following:
drivelib=[your path to the icons]\vicons_2_10_drivelib.dll

2. for the icons for the file panels, add:
IconLib=[your path to the icons]\vicons_2_10_fileicons.icl
isn't the use of %COMMANDER_PATH% better :roll:

Thanx again for your icons :D

yup I did test it too, not a bug but it doesn't look 'flat' :roll:
( nevermind I do not use drive buttons, only wanted to see the 'new' icons :lol: :lol: )

EDIT: this behaviour happen to the "function key buttons" too.

PS: when changing windows' style from:
XP --> CLASSIC ---> (restart TC) ---> XP ===> buttons are flat until TC restarts again.
(and each time the style change the button bar need to be reloaded else the background color is not the same color as the window itself)

Very nice set of neat and tight icons !
First, I placed the set in the 'icons'-dir and then added to the ini-file :
IconLib=C:\totalcmd\icons\vicons2_10_buttonbar.icl
After restart I suddenly had in the file panes some icon of two musical notes instead of the default
yellow 'map' icon for the directories. I didn't see any relevance in that, so I removed the line again.
Nevertheless, it's a great icon-library to be used in my custom buttonbar.

Well, the file 'vicons2_10_buttonbar.icl' contains only icons for TCs buttonbar. For the icons in the file panel, you have to use 'vicons_2_10_fileicons.icl', so the correct entry in your INI-file would be:

Code: Select all

IconLib=C:\totalcmd\icons\vicons2_10_fileicons.icl
with this, the icons should be shown correctly.

Well, the file 'vicons2_10_buttonbar.icl' contains only icons for TCs buttonbar.
That's what I thought : 'only'. So why overruling the file panel setting if it's about tje buttonbar ?
I could try of course including both lines, but I'm not the type of user to 'install the whole bunch'.
I prefer to see this as a nice library, from where I can choose an icon to connect it to a function.
Sam.

These are two different things.

One library contains buttons for the button bar you can customize yourself, the other one contains icons for the panels and the process icon. You can only exchange the latter one completely by the mentioned line in wincmd.ini.
If you want to use only several of those icons from that ICL you have to edit it yourself. This can be done by any usual icon editor or with http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/icltoolkit.html.

Of course it does, StickyNomad has explained it... Please read again and enter the correct line in wincmd.ini that refers to the correct icon library which is vicons_2_10_fileicons.icl, not vicons2_10_buttonbar.icl.
Restart TC to reflect the changes.
