In fact anything would be better i.m.h.o. I can't remember ever using this bar.
Normally I close TC once a day, and the X-button in the upper right corner suits me fine to do this.
I suppose this button is still some remains of the model of NC.
Of course it's preferred that this still willl be a function-key.
I checked the keyboard layout and I see no use for F11 or F12. A custom function setting would be nice there.
And, if it's custom, of course the user will have to edit the language file(s) to get some proper bar-text.
I have a (hopefuly) better implementation proposed in this thread

Sergio

Of course you are right, I just want to avoid situation like in MS Office, where you can put button bar everyvhere. You can put main menu everyvhere (did you see main menu of MS Word on left side of its window? :-) ) and now is one DVD hardly enough for it.
If there is a lot of people asking for it, Chrisitan will accept and implement it as optional (switchable off :-) ) I'll not fight against it.

You can put main menu everyvhere
Why would you be opposed to this capability?

Years ago, when I was a software instructor, I tried to promote what I thought were "best practices"' for gui element (toolbars, menus, windows) placement and use. Big mistake.

Each of us works differently. I know someone who likes the menubar at the bottom of his office applications. I myself like the main toolbar in office apps to be on the left. In TC, I would have a toolbar at the top, a toolbar in the middle, tabs at the bottom, and another toolbar below that.

To each his own and, the more options, the merrier.

The only reason is speed and the size of TC.exe. I am happy it is small and fast.
Another question is time that Christian has to put into develpoment of such feature. He has to decide if it is worth or not.

The size of TC. . . I found it in a way some historic change, that the 6.50 executable exceeded the diskette-size for the 1st time. I know it's no big deal nowadays, but anyway.
