Stupid feature...

Post by *Clo »

:D Hello Lefteous!
8) I know the normal colour-order like you can see above, since I work with HTML for a while. I'll test the Red / Blue inversion.
 Maybe this inversion-handling could be done by TC automatically -
as far as it'ld be possible that TC writes hexa codes here? -
 Like Aezay says (thanks!), it's an (antic) Intel feature, I rather call this a stupid bad joke!
 I'ld plan to purchase a Mac, but only if Ch. Ghisler writes a Commander for Mac OSs!
¤ The background combination effect is real in some Delphi™ softs, so I'll verify and tell you later.
:) Thank you again for your help,
Viel Grüße, kind regards,
Claude

Last flat---

Hallo!
:D The Red / Blue inversion works quite fine! The background-effect doesn't act here (a good friend of mine should be interested to know the trick!).
:| Last "flat" { Erniedrigungzeichen }(like for music, it's a French expression for "restriction" or "light inconvenience") : The virtual folders of the Configuration Pannel are shown as ordinary no-ext. files - they even get the icon of the file type!- Isn't really very annoying…
:? What an endless subject!
:?: The last question is: how TC could add the missing instructions that you gave me for [ Searches ] ? Or else, was this leak caused by me?
 After so much efforts, a good lunch is indispensable, bon appétit!
 Gruß,
Claude

Well, entering hex values is not documented in any way. The normal way is using the gui for color filters. This will write decimal values to the ini file automatically, which has never caused any trouble.

No decimal...

Hello!
• Like I told you before, decimal values dont'work here:
With a decimal value R G B , that no longer works again…
 Following the needs of this complex colouration (especially whether enhanced to an extra-sorting of no-ext. files...), I imagined a setting for it:

EDIT
… and another #2 version:
Image: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/charries/relais/extra-st.png
• Unfortunately, TC is currently unable to write the whole instructions in INI, since you gave me the right ones to add...
• So, why not a plugin - or rather a tool -to add this setting page ? It's just an idea, might be certainly improved...
• Since I'm useless at programming, I hope that a programmer could write this, it's free to take...

I have never claimed manually writing a decimal value to the INI file works fine. All I wrote is choosing a color in the gui will never cause any trouble.

Works fine for me. I never edited my color filters or search settings manually before you started this thread.

Cause it works fine.
The dialog contains search filter related settings, which is not necessary. The user can already choose from the list of existing search filters.
Filename length is not supported by the TC search engine. I wrote a filesystem plugin for this, where you could define such a search filter. But these filters will differ files by filesize when browsing in local disks, which is not desired of course.

Hi!

• Had you already the no-ext. file type in your list?
The dialog contains search filter related settings, which is not necessary. The user can already choose from the list of existing search filters.
• The actual whole settings for type-colors is too complex if you need "Edit". The "Search" dialog(s) which come(s) then are confusing. I bet that a lot of "median" users don't set colours because they understand a bloody thing. I know someones...

• Absolutely... The user who started the thread wished an extra-sorting for no-ext. files, but he didn't give a precise criterion. Then, it seemed that an extra-sorting by file-name lenght should be appropriate for him.
Well, entering hex values is not documented in any way. The normal way is using the gui for color filters. This will write decimal values to the ini file automatically, which has never caused any trouble.
• Right only if you accept to get no-ext files and dirs in the same colour...
Otherwise, wrong... This issue has still to be solved.
¤ Thank you again for this big help,

After reading your last posting it seems to me as if you haven't entirely understand the concept of color filters.
Color filters are colors assigned to a search filter. That's all you have to know.
Had you already the no-ext. file type in your list?
It doesn't matter. The files without extension is just one filter of many.
The actual whole settings for type-colors is too complex if you need "Edit". The "Search" dialog(s) which come(s) then are confusing. I bet that a lot of "median" users don't set colours because they understand a bloody thing. I know someones...
Yes, maybe two buttons "change color" and "change filter" would be more intuitive.
Right only if you accept to get no-ext files and dirs in the same colour...
No :P

8) I understood for a while! I've some neurons remaining still
- I just attempted to show you how it's difficult and confusing for new / "median" users in the practice, playing a bit their part...
Yes, maybe two buttons "change color" and "change filter" would be more intuitive.
• Certainly; though the word filter might be replaced, because many users don't understand what filters are doing here.
8) Relax: lunch! Bon appétit! Thanks V G

Excuse me for asking, but what was wrong with my answer in the 1st reply?
Just unselect the directory attribute, I have no problems getting it to work here.
Of all the planets I've been to, this one is my favorite.

Hi!
8) Nothing was wrong in your reply, I meant only that something goes wrong at home!
• Browsing the successive replies shows well that I'd a problem to set this colour (!) ... but nothing was faulty from you. Only the basic method didn't work in my PC.
 Kind regards,
Claude
