Doesn`t display ftp folder contents

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Doesn`t display ftp folder contents

Post by *Molgar »

TC 7.55 rc2 (I don't know if this was present in earlier versions) doesn`t display the contents of a folder through FTP if the folder name contains a [. A "550 Unable to handle command" message is displayed in the ftp log.

Not confirmed. The error seems to come from your server. I just created a dir named folder[1] so you can try it on my server:
ftps://ghisler.ch
or
ftp://ghisler.ch

I reverted to TC 7.50a, using exactly the same wincmd.ini, and it shows the contents of the folder just fine...

I'm not saying it's not a server side problem though. It's just that I have noticed now that TC 7.55 behaves this way.

Hello, Molgar.

Cannot reproduce the problem which you reported. T.C. 7.55 rc2 displays the foldername folder[1] just fine, also the content of folder[1].

Total Commander 7.55 rc2
Windows Vista Home Premium, 32bit
FTP Server: ftp://ghisler.ch

Maybe it is worth the time and effort to create an FTP logfile when using T.C. 7.55 rc2 and to post the logfile here for inspection. (Camouflage any username/password in case you do.)

Kind regards,
Karl

I suspect this problem is the same one I once experienced with Filezilla.

It seems my server doesn't handle the MLSD command all too well. TC 7.50a uses the LIST command instead (correct me if I'm wrong).

Do you know the exact type of server? FTP software and version?

No, but I just got confirmation that it is a known server bug and that it's being worked on.

Anyway, in the meantime, could there be a way to make TC use the LIST command via a user preference setting or something along those lines.

Cheers

It's there, in connection properties on Advanced tab. But I don't think it's problem with MLSD, definitely not the one described on the thread you linked. That one is about wrong format of the listing that FileZilla was unable to parse, while in this case it's the server returning an error.

Oh, my bad.

I'll use LIST, meanwhile I've already submitted a ticket so that the server gets fixed.

Thanks a lot, Sob.
