Feature required...
a new command required to swich between file list icon size 16*16 and 32*32 instead of going to Configuration>Font>Symbol size
this will be fine when assign such command to a toolbar button.

Thanks

:D Hi!
It's a good idea, I support it. In addition, do you think that a variable in that command should allow medium sizes (currently, to type in the "Symbol size" field)?
Though isn't recommended, such sizes work {I use actually 18*18 }; 16*16 is often tiny, and 32*32 is really huge...
:) Best regards,
Clo

I think adding such variable will complicate it. but instead the command can swich between 16*16, 32*32 and the user defined size if present.

i test the size you use 18*18 and many other and i wonder how can you use this size the icons seems very ugly and fade in any size than the standard size 16*16 or 32*32
indeed at first i did not believe you but when i return to your tutorial screen shoots i confirmed

Hi!
¤ I use generally home-made or modified icons 32*32 for the file-types. So, they are reduced. You can see a recent sample here, where list icons are 18*18 (reduced from 32*32):
Image: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/charries/relais/dan-character.png
Please, save the pic, display it with a picture-viewer like XnView or so,
zoom-up the list icons enough, and count the pixels...
 The original icon for *.bmp 32*32:

indeed at first I did not believe you but when i return to your tutorial screen shoots i confirmed
 This old "Interface" pic in the Tutorial has list icons as... 19*19!
Whether you don't have a HTML version, watch here:
Image: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/charries/relais/main-win.png
 ...and count the pixels too...
EDIT 1:  A new test using 24*24 size setting:

EDIT 2:  And a trick to avoid that the icons touch one another in the list (size: 20*20):

8) It's explained somewhere in this forum... Just search!

:!: I didn't write that these sizes look nice, but only that works...
 Do you want for verify at home (maybe far a bit...)?

Clo

Hi!
all what you said above and the screen shoots links proves what i said before "icons seems very ugly and fade in any size than the standard size 16*16 or 32*32 "
you know in windows explorer -and many other file manager- switching between Large icons mode and Small icons is very easy so i request this new command to simplify this switching in Total Commander that is all.
Do you want for verify at home (maybe far a bit...)?
Please just give me your address and let me decide if it is far or not.

Thanks

Hello!
¤ I contacted the author of XnView, in order that he updates his softs about 24*24 icons (John's library...).
:) You have already my city and my country here...
 My true full snail address is somewhere at my Web site... So easy to found!
 Do I purchase some good bottles?
EDIT:
Finally, a last test (especially dedicated to Ch. Chisler…) :
Image: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/charries/relais/3-versions.png
 You can see three versions of a fancy 24*24 original-size icon, quickly drawn in first as BMP >>> ICO >>> In the file-lists…
 The screen-shot is a PNG - 24 BPP
 The file-list icon-size has been set at 24*24 In the Options for this test…
:( Indubitably, TC blurs the icons in excess. A temporary solution could be to use raw icons (not smoothed off at all) :?:

 Test under Win98SE only currently.
8) Best regards,
Clo
