Plugin pages updated on ghisler.com (64-bit)

Post by *ghisler(Author) »

Today I have updated the plugin list on our homepage to include the 64-bit version when available:
http://www.ghisler.com/plugins.htm

Please let me know if I missed any 64-bit versions of the plugins on this page! Btw, I also added some new plugins like my MediaAudio2 plugin, where the existing plugin isn't available in 64-bit.

I'm using a MySql database with some self-written php scripts now to generate the page in English, German, and French. This makes it much easier to add and/or update plugins, and to change the layout of the list.

Please write in this thread if you have any suggestions how to make the list more readable.

Hello, Christian.

Thanks a lot for updating your plugins webpage and for including the existing 64-bit plugins.

From my point of view it would be easier to see at a glance whether a plugin is available as 32-bit only or as 64-bit as well if there were 2 additional columns, 32-bit and 64-bit, and if the available edition(s) were ticked for each plugin.

Kind regards,
Karl

Most browsers are able to highlight search results, e.g. in Opera I type 32 or 64 in text search field, and I see them on yellow background.

Yes. And I suggest to add a column for source file and put date behind version number:

Perhaps author in front?:

Interesting suggestion, but it doesn't handle the most common case where both plugins are in the same package...

That's simple - give both marks with same link to get 2 identical links for 32 and 64.

Why not simply merge the cells in this case?

Yes, that was the idea.

Bad idea. It doesn't look good and you can not see at a glance whether a plugin is available as 32-bit or 64-bit or both. See:

Add third column for it:

32bit: download only 32bit version.
64bit: download only 64bit version.
32+64bit: download both in one.

32+64bit: download both in one.
Again, that makes it less clear. See:

Alternatively one column could be used containing a list of available versions. The versions could be represented by codes instead of check marks, then it is no longer necessary to remember the meaning of each check mark. See:
http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/5806/tcplugins5.png

In the multiple column approach also codes could be used instead of check marks. A combined 32-bit/64-bit installer could be indicated by marking it with "*". See:

I have now implemented something similar. I plan to replace the texts "32 bit", "64 bit" and "32+64 bit" by small graphics which also contain a down pointing arrow symbolizing the download. Unfortunately I'm very bad at drawing, so maybe one of you has a good suggestion for those images? The 32bit and 64bit image together should have the same width as the 32+64bit image alone.

may be something like this template?

32:

| 32 bit             |

64:

|             64 bit |

32+64 (2in1):

| 32 bit + 64 bit |

32 and 64 (diffrent):

| 32 bit | 64 bit |

Here's we get in useful form same-sized image.
