'''Web feeds''' keep you informed about updates to a website. The two commonly used types of feeds RSS feeds and Atom feeds, are widely supported. Use whatever works for you, which is probably both.
A '''web feed''' keeps you informed about updates to a website. This wiki and Total Commander's [https://www.ghisler.ch/board/index.php official forum] offer several feeds.

Subscribing to feeds is often easiest by using your web browser. Web pages can contain hidden links to feeds. Browsers offer a subscribe function to subscribe to the feeds. Current versions of Mozilla Firefox have the subscribe function hidden in the bookmark menu (only if the shown web page contains links to feeds). Other ways to subscribe to feeds are clicking on a feed [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniform_resource_locator URL] in a web browser or dragging a feed URL to a feed reader. To manually subscribe to feeds using your feed reader or for fine-tuning your feeds you will need the URLs of the feeds.
Two commonly used web feed types are Atom and RSS. Both types are available.

The Total Commander forum and Total Commander wiki offer several feeds. A good way to keep track of new messages on the Total Commander forum is for example to use Mozilla Thunderbird to subscribe to forum feeds.
Each feed has an associated URL that can be entered in a feed reader program. An example of a program that can be used to subscribe to web feeds is Mozilla Thunderbird.

There are two series of forum feeds available: the forum feeds built into the forum software and forum smartfeeds, an  extension of the forum software.

When subscribing to a feed on the Total Commander forum you will receive new messages on the forum. A message is sent only once. When a message is modified afterwards you will not receive a new copy.
The built-in forum feeds offer fairly limited feeds. It also offers only Atom feeds, doesn't allow feeds of restricted forums and has no options to fine-tune a feed.

To subscribe to a feed go to the [http://www.ghisler.ch/board/ forum index] or enter a forum and use the subscribe function of your browser. To manually subscribe to feeds or for fine-tuning use the URLs and parameters described in the following sections.

The main link to generate a feed for all new forum messages is:

* http://www.ghisler.ch/board/rss.php
The Smartfeed extension offers Atom and RSS feeds and various options to fine-tune a feed.
Fine-tune the feed by adding parameters (in any order) like this:
<pre>http://www.ghisler.ch/board/rss.php?param1(=value)&param2(=value)&...</pre>
Example:
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/rss.php?atom&f=3&c=500

=== Atom parameter ===
The [https://www.ghisler.ch/board/app.php/smartfeed/ui Smartfeed User Interface] enables you to select the options and generate a URL for the feed.
To generate an Atom feed instead of RSS feed add the parameter "atom" to the URL.

Two commonly used web feed types are Atom and RSS. Both types are available.

Each feed has an associated URL that can be entered in a feed reader program. An example of a program that can be used to subscribe to web feeds is Mozilla Thunderbird.

There are two series of forum feeds available: the forum feeds built into the forum software and forum smartfeeds, an extension of the forum software.
