pplupo wrote: 2021-05-20, 14:34 UTC You can change the texts there. I did it on mine.

Create a text file in the LANGUAGE directory.
Try adding this to the file:

Code: Select all

English
1074="F5 Refresh"

Save it and go to TC.
Configuration>Options>Language
select your file and click OK.

If I'm not mistaken, the labels for those buttons range from 1072 to 1078.
Not tested, but this post says something different here: Customize bottom buttons.
It says you can't assign functions to the buttons
but if you change the button text and assign the desired function to this Fkey it should work.
This is all static then of course.
Oh, sorry, I misunderstood it. Lol

I don't really use those buttons. If you want buttons for these actions, you can always create buttons at the top or the vertical bar (I think it would make more sense in the vertical bar). Then you can have all the actions you want and just those. And assign the shortcuts you would like. I know, it's not a bottom bar, but I think you should really try to adapt to something new.

I've been down that road, tried other file managers, and had to adapt. Honestly, no file manager has ever replaced the feel I had with XTreeGold. :-P But if I look at it now, I wouldn't go back. Now that I have adapted to TC, I realize how much better it is. If you make the effort to transition, you MAY feel discomfort for having to adapt to a new way to do things, but in the end, you will be able to do these things and they may be even better. Even if they are not, they will surely be compensated for all the other improvements you've got. That's the essence of moving forward towards something better. You need to leave your comfort zone, not looking for it somewhere else.

If it works the way it did for me and many others, it will pay off.

Good luck with your transition. If you need help, search this forum, post new questions... you know where to find us. :-)

it seemed to me that JPCoetzee was talking about Xplorer², not XYplorer :?:

JPCoetzee wrote: 2021-05-20, 19:53 UTC That sounds a bit confusing! So I can reassign F7, and edit the text on the button to reflect the change, but if I click the button it will still create a new directory.
:?
"QUALITY NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE"
TC's function key buttons.
Unchanged since 1995.
