The actual Imagine (1.6.0) has a HEIF plugin and shows .heic files with no problems for me.pdario wrote: 2024-10-14, 08:30 UTC I have HIEF Image Extension installed, but not the HEVC one.
I don't even have an Irfan dir! I'm using Imagine plugin

Re: How to "quickly" view HEIC photo files using TC
V1.6??
I have versione v1.5.5, Jul 13 2024, and I can't find the newer version.
The web site in the readme file (http://www.nyam.pe.kr) does not even seem to host that plugin.
Any idea?
This is a common problem with all plugins, anyway: how can I know if there is a newer version?

works and has the Download entry on its menus on top of the home page.
There are zip and exe versions which include all plugins.

Ok, now it works, but I need to manually switch to "image / multimedia" type; shouldn't it automatically register for heic type?
Thank you

Why don't you just install the "HEVC Video Extensions from Device Manufacturer" - you can still get it by running this command:
It should also be available from various sites for example: https://windows.apkpure.com/hevc-video-extensions-from-device-manufacturer/download
It used to be visible in Microsoft Store - but now they only offer "HEVC Video Extensions" which costs the enormous amour of $0.99

Re: How to "quickly" view HEIC photo files using TC
Imagine has the heic codec built in.
Re: How to "quickly" view HEIC photo files using TC
This codec does not show all heic. You need to install the wic_heic codec. It shows all possible heic options.

Instead of the Microsoft "HEIF Image Extension" for Windows 10+ you can install https://www.copytrans.net/copytransheic/ it will enable Imagine, FhotoViewer, IrfanView and Microsoft's Photo Viewer to show heic files also on Windows 7 and 8.1 (64bit)
Apparently Imagine (and PhotoViewer plugin) needs a HEIC extension installed - because they cannot show HEIC images without.Imagine has the heic codec built in.

Oh, I had it assignet to 8 from previous tests; I removed it and now it defaults to Imagine!Horst.Epp wrote: 2024-10-14, 13:15 UTCThe best is to assign *.heic to Imaginepdario wrote: 2024-10-14, 12:59 UTC Ok, now it works, but I need to manually switch to "image / multimedia" type; shouldn't it automatically register for heic type?

One last thing: do you know if it is possible to make it default to "fit" zoom level?

1. Don't Fit Image
2: Reduce Image if Larger than Window
3: Always Fit Image to Window Size
The choice is saved for the next time you open Imagine. But changing the setting in Imagine also changes Listers own setting for this in: "Options" -> "Fit image to window F" or "Fit only larger images to window L" - so the choice in Imagine is transferred to other Image plugins - until you change TC's option again.
In Imagine you can also zoom in and out with the Num+ and Num- key, or via the right-click menu - but this zoom level is not saved.
In Imagine the zoom-level can also be locked with Num/ key or via the right-click menu - the lock will influence other images you view by pressing the Space key or the Backspace key - but it is not saved when you close the Lister window
If you when viewing with Imagine right-click on the image -> "View" -> "Fit Image" then you have 3 options:One last thing: do you know if it is possible to make it default to "fit" zoom level?

Sure, but I meant something for all the plugins I have; it would be nice a sort of automatic check
