[TC11.50b2] Visual glitches

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

NOT only! also there is a problem with text cut-off of radio-buttons labels! red arrow:
https://i.ibb.co/CHD7SxL/2024-10-17-104818.png
That is because there are no capital letters in the text that it looks a little unaligned to the radio buttons.

When starting the texts with capital letters like in the Danish translation you can see that the text is aligned to the center of the radio buttons.

This is standard behavior for text aligning with radio buttons - nothing wrong there

OK, agreed - Capital letters do the "thing". So isn't an obvious than such labels always should be capitalized?

and what about another "portion" of glitches?

[TC11.50b3]
OK. first one glitch is fixed. Thank you! Now We can switch these adjacent tabs without being self-hypnotized.

BUT! beta 3 brings another problem.
Pls. set Configuration-Font-Set DPI to 120.
And now open setting's tab 'Packer'. And look at the bottom of group box 'Additional packers'.
You will not see it - just disappeared. It seems that the culprit was a check box 'Set archive date to newest file date'.

And still And finally: why this

was not done like that?

make combo box smaller and add a distance to the next label.

That's because someone else complained that the button to configure packer extensions was in some cases touching that lower border. :(
It's just impossible to make it right for every situation, there are simply too many controls on that page.

Why was this new control placed on this tab at all? If it belonged to another tab entirely?

I already made the threads combobox a bit smaller, how many pixels less until you're satisfied?

May I suggest to put "Treat archives like directories" and "Set archive date to newest date" side by side instead of under each other.

I checked all the current languages - French is the one with the longest "Treat archives like directories" string and Albanian is the one with the longest "Set Zip-date to newest date" and in both cases it looks like the two strings could fit side by side - especially if you don't make the position of "Set archive date to newest date" fixed, but let it follow "Treat archives like directories" with a distance of for example 20 px (or 4 characters).

It depend on how much longer "Set archive date to newest date" is compared to the old "Set Zip-date to newest date" in the translations

"Set archive date to newest date" is on the Packers tab, because it now applies to all packers, not just ZIP archives:

I have another suggestion:

Why not put the "Set archive date to newest date" in the "Pack files" (Alt+F5) dialog? - that is where one need it.

As it is now, if I have chosen ZIP or 7-ZIP in the "Pack files" dialog and I want to change this option, I have to click the "Configure" button, and then change to the "Packer" dialog.

"Set archive date to newest date" is an option one might change for different purposes, so I think it belongs in the "Pack files" dialog. The option should of course be remembered, as it is now.

The "Pack files" dialog is currently only about 225 pixels high, so adding an extra 20 pixels to the height for this option will be no problem even for the smallest screen.

I suggest to put it under "Recursively pack subdirectories" to be grouped with the two other options that are remembered.

There could even be enough space for changing the string to: "Set archive date to newest date (not ARJ, UC2 and plugins)".

Just take a screenshot of the current state of affairs and then match it with mine.
Then perhaps the difference will become more obvious. It's not just about the width size,
but also about the distance between the right edge of the box and the "/" symbol.
And width matters here if you use hard-coded CPU threads values.
All of which are double digits.
And the current width is simply insanely larger than what is logical for two-digit numbers.

I think guess the reason of a problem. Please, just add the space symbol before the "/ ##". May be he was talking about the same but by another words.

Do you mean this one https://i.imgur.com/GErJF1Y.png to move like here https://i.imgur.com/1KHGnd6.png ?
That's UKR. I was surprised, but it can fit there. But not with 50/50 position. Looks like there is something like 60/40 of length %.

For Polish language it will be definitely better as the string in older TC versions is shortened to:
"Ustaw datę ZIP na datę najnow. pliku"

Now it should be longer (ZIP -> archiwum):
"Ustaw datę archiwum na datę najnowszego pliku"

It won't fit in a single row with "Traktuj archiwa jak katalogi".
