TotalcmdWiki:Edit summary

From TotalcmdWiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Whenever you edit something on this wiki, you can fill in a summary of the change you made. This article contains guidelines for using this summary.

Always fill in the summary field

It is important to always fill in the summary field. This summary is used on a number of pages, among which are page history pages, user contributions pages (e.g. Special:Contributions/Ghisler(Author)) and the page with a list of all recent changes to the wiki. If people do not fill in the summary field, these pages are much less useful.

Change your preferences so you won't forget

It is recommended to set your user preferences (under Editing) to "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary". Once you have enabled this option, you will receive a reminder when you forget to fill in the summary. You will still be able to save without filling in the summary by hitting the save button for the second time.

Section editing

When editing a section, a link to that section is automatically placed in the summary field. Add your summary behind this link.

You may also remove the section link or create additional ones if you want to. Simply adding a section name between /* and */ marks will create a link to that section.
